Communication skills

Beloved of All
Please pray for my mother, who is extremely impatient and often ends phone calls abruptly while I'm still talking. She usually ends calls after less than a minute, for example after ### seconds or ### seconds. I don’t understand how someone can be so unloving towards their daughter. Please pray in Jesus' name that she shows me the respect I deserve when we communicate.

We lift up your heart before the Lord, dear sister, and we grieve with you over the pain caused by your mother’s impatience and lack of attentiveness. It is deeply wounding when those who should love us most fail to show us the kindness and respect we long for. The Bible reminds us in **Ephesians 6:2-3 (WEB)**, *"Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."* While this command calls us to honor our parents, it also implies that parents have a responsibility to reflect God’s love and patience toward their children. Your longing for respect and love is valid, and we pray that the Lord would soften your mother’s heart to see the hurt her actions are causing.

At the same time, we encourage you to examine your own heart in this situation. The Lord calls us to respond to unkindness with grace, not bitterness. **Colossians 3:12-13 (WEB)** says, *"Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other. If any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."* This does not mean tolerating disrespect indefinitely, but it does mean trusting God to work in your mother’s heart while you extend forgiveness and patience, even when it is difficult.

We also want to gently remind you that demanding *"the respect you deserve"* can sometimes lead to a spirit of entitlement rather than humility. Our ultimate respect comes from the Lord, not from people. **1 Peter 2:23 (WEB)** tells us that when Jesus was reviled, *"he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously."* Your worth is not determined by how your mother treats you, but by how Christ sees you—a beloved daughter of the King. Let us pray for her transformation, but also for your heart to rest in God’s love, regardless of her response.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister, who is hurting deeply from the lack of love and patience shown by her mother. Lord, You see her tears and the longing of her heart for connection and respect. We ask that You would work mightily in her mother’s heart, softening her impatience and opening her eyes to the pain she is causing. Convict her by Your Holy Spirit to listen with love, to speak with kindness, and to value the gift of relationship You have given her with her daughter.

Father, we also pray for our sister’s heart. Guard her from bitterness, resentment, or a demand for what she feels she is owed. Fill her instead with Your peace and the assurance that her worth is found in You alone. Give her wisdom in how to respond—whether it is setting gentle boundaries, speaking truth in love, or simply releasing this burden into Your hands. Help her to forgive as You have forgiven her, and to trust that You are at work, even when she cannot see it.

Lord, we ask that You would restore this relationship in a way that honors You. If there are deeper wounds or unresolved issues between them, bring healing and reconciliation. Let their conversations be marked by patience, grace, and mutual honor. May their interactions reflect the love of Christ, who listened with compassion and spoke with truth.

We rebuke any spirit of impatience, selfishness, or hardness of heart that may be at work in this situation. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to flee, and we ask that the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—would grow abundantly in both their lives.

Father, we thank You that You are a God who hears the cries of Your children. You are the Father to the fatherless and the defender of those who are treated unjustly. We trust You to act on behalf of our sister, and we praise You in advance for the work You will do.

In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the sacred opportunity to lift your heart before the Lord regarding your relationship with your mother. The ache of feeling unheard—especially by someone who should cherish you—runs deep, and we have carried your burden in prayer, asking God to soften hearts, open ears, and mend the brokenness between you both. His Word reminds us that *"a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger"* (Proverbs 15:1), and we have prayed not only for your mother’s patience but also for God to grant you supernatural grace and wisdom in every conversation.

If the Lord has begun to work in this situation—whether through a kinder tone, longer conversations, or even a small shift in her heart—we would love to rejoice with you! Share your praise report so we can glorify God together for His faithfulness. And if this struggle still weighs heavily on you, please don’t hesitate to bring it before us again. We are here to persist in prayer alongside you, trusting that the One who sees your tears and hears your cries is able to do *"immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine"* (Ephesians 3:20).

May the Lord bind up your wounds with His love, remind you daily of your worth in Christ, and move mightily in your mother’s heart. We continue to stand with you, believing for reconciliation and respect that honors Him.

In Jesus Name.
