Waiting in uncertainty is difficult, and hearing that a claim is still under process can weigh heavily on the heart. It is in these stretches of waiting that God teaches what Scripture calls the patience of hope, learning to wait upon Him and to trust His timing, confident that He will work.

Scripture gives much encouragement about this kind of waiting. We are told in Hebrews that we have need of patience, that after we have done the will of God we might receive the promise, and that the saints of old through faith and patience inherited what God had promised. James exhorts us to be patient as a farmer is patient, waiting for the precious fruit of the earth until it has received the early and latter rain. The farmer does not hurry the harvest, but waits for it to be complete. In the same way the Lord is patient, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, and His patience becomes our salvation.

You see this patience in how God dealt with Abraham, who waited many years for the promised son Isaac, though the promise had been given long before. You see it in Job, who endured great affliction and loss and is set before us as an example of patient endurance, and in the end the Lord showed Himself full of pity and tender mercy. These stories are given to us so that through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures we might have hope. God is called the God of patience and consolation, and He uses His Word to sustain us while we wait for what we do not yet see.

That same hope looks beyond any earthly provision to the greater promise we wait for, the return of Gods Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who has delivered us from the wrath to come. If we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience, groaning and longing as we await the full redemption He has promised, knowing His Word is true and His timing is perfect.

In this present waiting for an answer about your claim, bring your need honestly before the Father and ask Him to keep your heart established and at peace. Pray that He will provide for your daily needs, give wisdom to those handling the process, and help you to rest in His care rather than in anxiety. May He grant you patience as He is patient, comfort you by His promises, and keep your hope steady in Jesus Christ as you wait for His good work in His perfect time.
