We are in serious need of Gods miraculous hand, and to know his will! I am a member of a bible believing missionary church in Utah. I will refrain from dropping the name so not to cause possible ill feelings in the city. The city the church is in, is south of Salt Lake City and north of Provo, with 98% of the church going population (pop. 40,000- 45,000) of the city are active member of the LDS (Mormon) Church. We are the only non-Mormon church in this town, and we would estimate one of 6-10 in a 15 mile area (which includes 6 cities). This is one of the fastest if not the fastest growing city in Utah. City and State officials expect this city to reach a population of 150,000 in 10 years.
As a church, we have made our way from meeting at a motel every week with 10-12 people, to renting 1/3 of a building 2 years ago. We went from having only CD’s for music to sing with, to having an organ (and organ player) as well as 5 people playing other instruments. God has been faithful and he continues to grow and build our church. We have grown from twelve people to forty, if all members show up at the same time but we average 25-30. On Easter Sunday we had 49 people at service. We have watched as five or six other bible believing churches have come and gone over the past eight years, while our church continues to grow.
Our musicians, one in particular, shares the gospel music with others every chance he gets, which is every time he is invited to a cookout or any place they will allow his banjo. We make sure there is weekly visitation to a nursing home and weekly bible studies to individual homes of those interested in learning about Jesus. In the last year we have given out approximately 1,200 tracks per year, 200 “Daily Breads” per year, and roughly 300 bibles on audio tape or CD. We have been blessed by God and we continue to serve him!
Last week, the owner of the building we rent decided he needed to sell the building we are meeting in, so he can start a new business. This man has been very fair, very gracious and very helpful to our church, and he truly has no other choice. If anyone else wants to purchase the building, he has set the price at $650,000 (which is what the building appraised at). In confidence he told us he would settle for $600,000. If our church wants to purchase the building, he will sell it to our church or one of our church members for $550,000. None of our members have sufficient funds or availability of credit to purchase the building. 2/3 of the building is rented out to others, and they pay about $1,800 per month.
Our lease is up on July 31st, and the owner will not renew it so the new owner has some options, but he has told us he will do what he can to talk the new owner into giving us a two year lease. If not we will have to look for a new building or property for a building fund. With a house lot (100’ x 100’) costing $175,000 and up, we really need Gods guidance and to see his miraculous hand at work in Utah. We need God to open the door and provide the money (within this city as we have overcome much and are now respected) or to provide another place that will be permanent for us.
Thank you for your prayers, and if you would like to contact us, feel free to contact me at Mark@theWarnickHouse.com and I will give you the Pastors e-mail address and contact info, or mine if you want. We need Gods miracles, … Mark
