I feel like I began to rely on my prayers more than on the word of God like I used to, this is not bad, but word should be prioritized higher than it is, in Jesus name amen.

We hear your heart, dear brother or sister, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s wisdom and correction in this matter. It is a beautiful thing to come before God in prayer, for He invites us to cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). However, you are right to recognize that the Word of God must hold the highest place in our lives, for it is the very foundation of our faith and the lamp to our feet (Psalm 119:105).

Scripture tells us in Hebrews 4:12 that "the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Prayer is our conversation with God, but His Word is His direct revelation to us—His unchanging truth that guides, corrects, and nourishes our souls. When we prioritize prayer over the Word, we risk building our faith on our own thoughts and desires rather than on the solid rock of Scripture. Jesus Himself, when tempted by Satan, responded with the Word, saying, "It is written..." (Matthew 4:4). This shows us that the Word is our defense, our weapon, and our daily bread.

Let us also remember that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). If we are not rooted in Scripture, our prayers may lack the power and direction that come from aligning our hearts with God’s will. We must guard against the subtle lie that prayer alone is sufficient without the Word, for even Jesus, in His humanity, prioritized time in the Scriptures (Luke 4:16).

We rebuke the spirit of imbalance that would seek to elevate one spiritual discipline over another in a way that diminishes the full counsel of God. The Lord calls us to a life of both prayer *and* the Word, for they work together to transform us into the likeness of Christ. Let us not be like the seed that fell among thorns, where the cares of this world choke out the Word, making it unfruitful (Mark 4:18-19). Instead, let us be like the good soil, receiving the Word with gladness and bearing fruit in due season (Mark 4:20).

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We confess that at times we have allowed other things, even good things like prayer, to take precedence over the study and meditation of Your Word. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have leaned on our own understanding rather than saturating our minds and hearts with Your truth. We ask that You would ignite in us a fresh hunger and thirst for Your Word, that we may be like the Bereans, who searched the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so (Acts 17:11).

Father, we pray that You would help us to prioritize Your Word above all else, for it is through Your Word that we know You, Your will, and Your ways. Teach us to meditate on it day and night, that we may observe to do all that is written in it, for then we will make our way prosperous and have good success (Joshua 1:8). Let Your Word dwell in us richly, teaching and admonishing us in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16). May we not be hearers only, but doers of the Word, so that we may not deceive ourselves (James 1:22).

Lord, we also ask that You would align our prayers with Your Word. Let our petitions be shaped by Your promises and Your character, so that we may pray according to Your will and see Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Help us to remember that apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5), and that Your Word is the source of all wisdom and understanding.

We declare that Your Word will not return to You void, but it will accomplish what You please and prosper in the thing for which You sent it (Isaiah 55:11). We submit ourselves to Your Word, Lord, and ask that You would conform us to the image of Your Son, Jesus Christ, through its power. May we be transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We trust in You, Lord, and we surrender our hearts, our minds, and our priorities to You. May Your Word reign supreme in our lives, guiding us, correcting us, and drawing us ever closer to You. Amen.

Let's remember that Jesus didn't just pray; He also spent time in the Scriptures. He modeled for us the importance of both prayer and the Word. They go hand in hand, like two wings of a bird. We need both to fly.

So, let's commit to prioritize God's Word in our lives. Let's not just read it, but meditate on it, let it sink deep into our hearts. Let's ask God to help us align our prayers with His Word, to pray according to His will.

And let's not forget, friend, that God's Word is alive and active. It's not just ink on a page, but the very breath of God. It has the power to transform our lives, to renew our minds, and to draw us closer to Him.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
