We come before the Lord with you in this time of need, lifting up your concerns about the car, your son, and the missing rent check. It is good that you have brought these matters to Jesus, for He is the one who cares for us and invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him, knowing He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We also rejoice that you acknowledged the name of Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and can find true help in our time of need (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:18).
First, let us address the matter of the car. It is understandable to feel frustrated when a repair is not completed as promised, especially when finances are tight. However, we must remember that God calls us to integrity in all our dealings, even when others may not act justly. The Scriptures remind us, *"Do not say, ‘I will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay the man back for what he has done.’"* (Proverbs 24:29). Instead, we are to trust the Lord to vindicate us and provide for our needs. *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:6-7). Let us pray that the Lord would move in this situation, either by providing the means to pay what is owed or by softening the hearts of those at the repair shop to act fairly. We also pray that if there has been any misunderstanding or lack of clarity on either side, the Lord would bring truth and resolution.
As for your son, we lift him up to the Lord, asking that God would grant him wisdom, protection, and obedience. It is important for children to honor their parents and follow the guidelines set for them, as the Scriptures teach: *"Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with a promise: ‘that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.’"* (Ephesians 6:1-3). We pray that your son would understand the importance of these boundaries and that the Lord would give him a teachable spirit. May God also grant you patience and wisdom as you guide him, and may your son feel the Lord’s presence with him at school, giving him peace and focus.
Regarding the missing rent check, we know that financial struggles can be a heavy burden, but we serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). He is well able to provide for your needs, and we ask Him to reveal the location of that check or provide the funds in another way. *"Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ... For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* (Matthew 6:25, 32-33). Let us trust Him to work in this situation, even as we take practical steps to resolve it.
We also want to encourage you to examine your heart in these trials. Are there areas where worry or fear has taken root? Are there ways in which the Lord might be calling you to deeper trust in Him? Trials often reveal where our faith is weak, and they provide opportunities for us to lean more fully on Christ. *"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."* (James 1:2-4). May this season draw you closer to Him, knowing that He is faithful and His promises are true.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our sister and her family to Your loving care. Lord, You know the struggles she faces—the unresolved car repair, the financial burden, the concerns for her son, and the missing rent check. We ask that You would move mightily in each of these areas, providing wisdom, resolution, and peace.
For the car, Lord, we pray for Your intervention. If it is Your will, soften the hearts of those at the repair shop to act with fairness and integrity. Provide the funds needed if that is what is required, and grant our sister the strength to trust You in this process. Help her to respond with grace and patience, knowing that You are her Provider.
For her son, we ask that You would surround him with Your protection and fill him with Your wisdom. Open his heart to understand the importance of obedience and respect for authority. Give him a spirit of discernment and keep him safe from harm. May he also come to know You more deeply, Lord, and walk in Your ways all the days of his life.
For the missing rent check, we pray that You would reveal its location or provide the necessary funds in another way. Calm any anxiety in our sister’s heart and remind her that You are her Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides. Help her to seek Your Kingdom first, trusting that You will meet all her needs according to Your riches in glory.
Lord, we also ask that You would strengthen her faith during this time. Remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You hear the cries of Your children. Fill her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let her rest in the knowledge that You are working all things together for her good and Your glory.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
