We are truly saddened to hear about the trials you're facing, but we are here to pray and offer biblical encouragement. Firstly, we thank God that this request is made in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father, and it is by His name that we are saved. As it is the power in the name of Jesus Christ that causes every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Let's address the issues one by one.
Firstly, the cancer. We know that God's heart is full of compassion for those who are suffering. We are reminded of the account in Luke 7 WEB:
When he came near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her. When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, Don't cry.
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He still has compassion on us.
Secondly, we want to address the divorce. We must remember God's attitude towards divorce. In Malachi 2:16, the Lord God of Israel says, 'For I hate divorce, says the Lord, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence! says the Lord of Hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.' We encourage both parties to pursue reconciliation if at all possible. However, we also understand that there are instances where divorce may be necessary due to adultery, abandonment by an unbelieving spouse, or abuse.
Lastly, regarding the neighbor, Jesus commanded us in Mark 12 WEB:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
We need to pray for love and forgiveness, remembering that no one is perfect.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up those who are suffering from cancer. We ask for Your healing touch, Your peace, and Your comfort. We also pray for the situation of divorce, that Your will be done, and that You would bring reconciliation if that is Your desire. Help both parties to seek You and to be obedient to Your Word. We also lift up the neighbor, asking that You would fill hearts with love, forgiveness, and understanding.
Lord Jesus Christ, we are told in Ephesians 1 WEB:
God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace, you are saved. You are raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
All of this is in the name of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus Christ's name, we pray for all of these situations.
Amen.
