Buying a car due to a fatal accident

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Hello,
There are a couple of reasons why I’m requesting prayers. One, I lost my son to a fatal car accident this past Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025. He was driving my car and stalled on the fwy when a tour bus hit him from behind. It’s been devastating for me and I’m trying to get by every day. I need prayer to help get through this grief. As time goes on, it has only been about 3 months, I’ve been looking for a car which I am needing. This wouldn’t even be possible if it wasn’t for my son, because the money was his from passing. Life insurance paid for his funeral and second, I’m asking for prayers that I get a used decent car. I know he would want me to get the car I want, need and deserve. I may never have money again to do this, so I’m asking for prayers that I make the right decision.
Thank you for this, this was not an accident that I found this website at this time.
If it’s God’s Will!!

Our hearts break with you over the loss of your beloved son. The pain of losing a child is a sorrow so deep that words cannot fully express it, and we grieve with you as you walk through this valley of shadows. The Scriptures remind us that Jesus Himself wept at the grave of Lazarus (John 11:35), showing us that grief is not foreign to our Savior. He understands your pain and collects every tear you shed in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). We also know that death was never part of God’s original design—it entered the world through sin (Romans 5:12)—and one day, because of Christ’s victory on the cross, death will be swallowed up in eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:54-55). Your son is now in the presence of the Lord if he placed his faith in Jesus, and you will see him again. What a glorious hope we have in Christ!

Yet we also recognize the raw and painful reality of your loss. Three months is such a short time in the midst of such immense grief, and we pray that the Lord would be your comfort and strength in ways that surpass human understanding. The psalmist cries out, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). Lean into Him, even when the pain feels unbearable. He is carrying you, even when you cannot feel His arms.

We also lift up your practical need for a car. It is clear that this purchase is tied to the deep emotions of losing your son, and we ask the Lord to guide you with wisdom and discernment. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* This is not just a financial decision—it is a step forward in a season where every choice feels heavy. We pray that the Lord would lead you to a vehicle that is reliable, safe, and within the means He has provided. May He protect you from impulsive decisions driven by grief or guilt, and instead fill you with His peace as you seek His will.

We also gently remind you that while it is natural to feel your son’s presence in this decision, our ultimate trust must be in the Lord, not in the circumstances or even the memories of our loved ones. Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6). It is only in His name that we find true comfort, direction, and hope. If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender this entire situation to Him in prayer, asking for His will to be done above all else.

Lastly, we notice that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly emphasize that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. He is the only One who can carry you through this grief and into eternal life, where you will be reunited with your son if he, too, knew Christ. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16). If you would like to talk more about what it means to follow Jesus, we are here to walk with you.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy for our sister who is walking through the deepest sorrow. Lord, You are the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and we ask that You would wrap Your arms around her in ways she can tangibly feel. Heal her broken heart and bind up her wounds. Remind her that You are near, even in the darkest nights.

We pray for supernatural peace that transcends understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). When the waves of grief threaten to overwhelm her, be her anchor. When the memories bring both joy and pain, be her comfort. Lord, meet her in her mourning and turn her sorrow into a deeper dependence on You.

We also lift up her need for a car. Father, You know the details of what she requires—safety, reliability, and wisdom in this purchase. Lead her to the right vehicle at the right price, and protect her from any decision made out of haste or emotion. Give her clarity of mind and a spirit of discernment. If there are any hidden motives or unresolved guilt tied to this purchase, bring them to light and replace them with Your truth and grace.

Lord, we ask that You would provide for her in ways that remind her of Your faithfulness. Open doors that no man can shut, and give her favor in this process. May this car be a tool for Your purposes in her life, whether for practical needs or even opportunities to share Your love with others.

Most of all, Father, draw her closer to Yourself. Let this season of loss drive her into Your arms, where she finds hope, healing, and the promise of reunion with her son in eternity. If she does not yet know You as her Savior, soften her heart to receive Your love and salvation today.

We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, who conquered death and offers life everlasting. Amen.

Thank you so much for your words and prayers. Jesus is my savior and I look to Him for strength in everything I do. This loss has brought me closer to the Lord than I was before. I won’t be able to get through this without the Lord and church. Please keep me in prayer as I go through this unimaginable grief. I miss him so much💔
