Bump on groin area

Lynetta Dove

Disciple of Prayer
(Female) I haven’t shaved down there in a while and maybe I’ve been washing too rough, but I have a painful bump down there close to the top. It’s super painful and I’ve had ingrown hairs and bumps show up down there but it’ll usually be after shaving. I’m not sure what it is but please pray it will go down and the pain will cease. Otherwise I’ll have to go to the doctor and I don’t feel comfortable with that :/

Benediction For Doctors
Sensitiveness of Christ
Sour Experiences
We hear your request and we join with you in bringing this painful and uncomfortable concern before the Lord, seeking His mercy and healing together in Jesus' name.

We understand how distressing and painful a bump in such a sensitive area can be, and how worry and embarrassment can make it even harder to know what to do. Please know that God cares about every part of our suffering, even those things that feel too private or awkward to share. He sees you and He is compassionate toward you. As it is written, He heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3 and He has promised But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We also remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, which is in you, which you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and that includes caring for our bodies with gentleness and wisdom.

What you describe does sound like it could be an ingrown hair, an irritated follicle or a small cyst, which can become painful even without recent shaving, especially if the area has been washed roughly or irritated by friction and clothing. We are not medical professionals and we cannot diagnose you, but we want to encourage you with practical and loving care. Please try to keep the area clean with gentle washing, avoid picking or squeezing the bump, wear loose cotton clothing, and a warm compress a few times a day can sometimes help bring comfort and allow it to drain naturally if it is an ingrown hair. However if the pain increases, if there is spreading redness, swelling, fever, pus, if it does not begin to improve in a few days, or if you notice it getting larger, we gently and strongly encourage you not to let discomfort or embarrassment keep you from seeing a doctor. The Lord has given skill and knowledge to physicians, and seeking care is a wise way to steward the body He has given you. A doctor, especially a female doctor or nurse if that would help you feel more at ease, has seen these concerns many times and will want to help you with dignity and kindness. There is no shame in seeking help for healing.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share why we always pray in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To be saved we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead Romans 10:9, trusting in His sacrifice for our sins. It is in His name we can boldly bring every need, including physical pain and anxiety, to God.

We also want to encourage you not to be overcome with fear. God says Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10 and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, lifting up our sister to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see this pain and discomfort she is carrying, You know the worry and the embarrassment she feels, and You care deeply for her. We ask in Jesus' name that You would touch this painful bump, reduce the inflammation and pain, and bring healing and restoration to this area of her body. Grant her relief, comfort, and peace, and let this resolve without complication. Give her wisdom to care for her body gently and give her courage and peace if she needs to seek medical care, leading her to a kind and trustworthy provider who will treat her with respect. Calm her anxious thoughts and guard her heart with Your peace. Help her to know how deeply she is loved and seen by You, and draw her closer to Jesus, that she may know the full assurance of salvation and access to You through Him. We thank You that You are our healer and our comforter. We trust this need into Your hands and pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We are praying that the pain will ease quickly and that you will feel God’s peace and presence with you in the days ahead. If the bump does not improve soon or worsens, please do not hesitate to seek care promptly. We continue to lift you up.

Thank you for trusting us with something so private and painful to talk about. We can hear how sore and worried you are, and also how uneasy the thought of seeing a doctor makes you feel. It makes complete sense you would feel that way.

We are praying with you for relief from the pain and for this bump to go down soon. Because the area is tender and the pain is strong, we gently encourage you to have a clinician take a look if it does not improve quickly, gets more painful, or you notice fever or swelling, alongside our prayers not instead of them. We know that can feel awkward, but primary care providers and women's health clinicians see concerns like this every day and their goal is to help you feel comfortable and cared for. You can ask for a female provider if that would help you feel more at ease, and you are welcome to bring someone you trust with you.

You do not have to carry this worry alone. We are holding you in prayer and asking God to give you peace as you decide on next steps.

Father, we lift her to You and ask for Your comfort and healing. Ease her pain, calm her anxiety and guide her to the right help if she needs it. Give her peace and a steady sense of being looked after and loved. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with tenderness and care. There is a word from the Lord which says, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God, and it is our desire to comfort you in this time of pain and anxiety.

We are sorry for the painful bump and the distress it has caused you. Bodily afflictions, even those that seem small to others, can bring much discomfort and fear, and the Lord knows your frame and sees your sorrow. It is written, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you, and we encourage you to cast this very care, with its pain and its worry, upon Him who is both able and willing to help.

We will pray that the Lord in His mercy will be pleased to lessen the inflammation and ease the pain, and that healing may come quickly. We are reminded that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is healing. He who healed the sick and had compassion upon the suffering is still full of healing virtue, and we may look to Him for comfort both of body and of soul.

At the same time, we would gently encourage you not to let anxiety unfit you for what is wise and needful. While we pray for relief, the body is the temple entrusted to us, and to seek proper care when pain persists is a good stewardship of that trust. We understand your discomfort at the thought of seeing a doctor, and that feeling is not uncommon. If the pain does not ease, or if the swelling increases, or there is fever or spreading redness, it would be prudent to seek medical counsel. You may ask for a female practitioner or bring a trusted friend or family member with you, that you may feel more at ease. Keeping the area clean with gentle washing and avoiding picking or harsh scrubbing is wise, but do not hesitate to seek help if it does not improve.

Let us pray for you.

O gracious Father, Thou seest this Thy child in pain and anxiety. Thou knowest the affliction that has come upon her body and the fear that attends it. We ask Thee to lay Thy healing hand upon her, to cause the pain to cease and the swelling to go down, and to grant her comfort and peace of mind. Give her wisdom to care for her body aright, and if further help be needed, give her courage and provide kind and modest hands to help her. Let her feel Thy presence encamping round about her, and let Thy Word quicken and comfort her heart. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who bore our sicknesses and carries our sorrows. Amen.

May the Lord grant you relief and may His comfort sustain you, and may you be able to say, This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy Word hath quickened me. We continue to remember you before the throne of grace.
