Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me because I moved to a new country for work. Initially I was enjoying work but now I hate it because certain colleagues are disrespecting me a lot and I feel bullied and isolated. There is a particular guy that deliberately isolates me and ignores me whilst engaging with my work friends. I'm not a confrontational person so I just ignore it. Even now his girlfriend who works in the school and I thought was nice has made digs at me. I'm the only Christian and they definitely don't take me serious. I don't know why God has brought me to this school, I'm so unhappy and isolated. Please pray to God to fight my corner, back me up in front of those people who want to tear me down in subtle ways and to have people at work that I can lean on.

We are deeply grieved to hear of the suffering you are enduring in this workplace, and we want you to know that God sees every hurtful word, every act of exclusion, and every unkind deed directed toward you. You are not forgotten by Him, and He has placed you there for a purpose—even if that purpose is not yet clear. The isolation and disrespect you face are painful, but we urge you to remember that as a follower of Christ, you are called to walk in His footsteps, and He too was despised and rejected by men (Isaiah 53:3). Yet, He entrusted Himself to the Father who judges righteously (1 Peter 2:23). You are not alone in this, and we stand with you in prayer, asking God to be your defender, your strength, and your comfort.

It is no coincidence that you are the only Christian in this environment. God has placed you there as a light in the darkness, and though it may feel as though your faith is being mocked or dismissed, your presence is a testimony—even in silence. Jesus warned us that the world would hate His followers because it first hated Him (John 15:18-19). But take heart, for He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Your response to this persecution is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and humility. When they see your gentleness, your refusal to retaliate, and your continued kindness despite their treatment, they will witness something supernatural. As it is written, *"Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t curse. But instead, bless; knowing that you are called to this, that you may inherit a blessing"* (1 Peter 3:9). This does not mean you must endure abuse without boundary, but it does mean your heart must remain surrendered to God’s will, trusting Him to vindicate you in His timing.

We also want to encourage you to examine whether there is a way to address this situation with wisdom and godly boldness. While we commend your desire to avoid confrontation, there is a difference between avoiding conflict and allowing yourself to be continually mistreated. Proverbs 31:8-9 tells us to *"Speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the poor and needy."* Though you may not feel "poor or needy" in a material sense, you are being oppressed, and it may be time to seek godly counsel on how to address this—whether through a private conversation with a supervisor, human resources, or another authority figure. If you have not yet done so, document instances of bullying or exclusion. This is not about retaliation but about protecting yourself and ensuring that your workplace is held accountable for fostering a hostile environment. *"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble"* (Psalm 9:9), and He may use even secular systems to bring about justice.

As for the particular man and his girlfriend who have targeted you, we pray that God would soften their hearts. It is possible that their actions stem from their own insecurities, jealousy, or spiritual blindness. Jesus said, *"Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!"* (Matthew 5:44). This is not a natural response, but it is a supernatural one—enabled by the Holy Spirit within you. Pray for them, not with bitterness, but with genuine compassion, asking God to open their eyes to their own need for Him. You may never see the fruit of these prayers, but know that God is at work even when you cannot see it.

We also want to address your question: *"I don’t know why God has brought me to this school."* This is a deep and honest cry, and we want to assure you that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). He may be refining you through this trial, teaching you to depend on Him in ways you never have before. He may be preparing you for a future ministry or role where you will need the resilience and empathy you are gaining now. Or, He may be using you to plant seeds of faith in the hearts of those around you, even if you never see them sprout. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused, and imprisoned before God exalted him to a position of great authority. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph tells his brothers, *"You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive."* Trust that God is working all things together for your good and His glory (Romans 8:28), even when the path is painful.

Lastly, we want to remind you of the importance of fellowship. You are the only Christian in your workplace, but you are not the only Christian in your new country. Seek out a Bible-believing church where you can be encouraged, prayed for, and built up in the faith. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us, *"Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not abandoning our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."* Isolation is a tool of the enemy, but God has designed His people to thrive in community. If you have not yet found a church home, make this a priority. Ask God to lead you to a body of believers who will stand with you, pray with you, and remind you of the truth when the lies of the enemy feel overwhelming.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of Your children. Lord, we ask that You would be their defender in this workplace. Rise up, O God, and contend for them against those who seek to tear them down. You have said in Your Word, *"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness"* (Isaiah 41:10). We claim this promise over them now.

Father, we ask that You would expose the darkness in this workplace. Bring to light the schemes of the enemy that seek to isolate and discourage Your child. Surround them with godly allies—even if it is just one person—who will stand with them, encourage them, and remind them that they are not alone. If there are others in that school who are hungry for truth, draw them to our brother/sister. Use this situation to display Your power and Your love in ways that cannot be ignored.

Lord, we pray for the hearts of those who are persecuting them. Soften their hearts, Lord. Let them see their own need for You. If there is jealousy, convict them. If there is insecurity, heal them. If there is spiritual blindness, open their eyes. We ask that You would turn their mockery into curiosity, their exclusion into inclusion, and their hatred into respect—not for our brother’s/sister’s sake, but for Yours. Let them see Christ in them and be drawn to the light.

Father, we also ask for wisdom. Give our brother/sister the words to say if they need to address this situation with authority figures. Give them discernment to know when to speak and when to remain silent. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that their identity is not found in the opinions of others but in You alone.

Lord, we pray for supernatural joy and strength in the midst of this trial. Let them experience Your presence in a tangible way. When they feel weak, be their strength. When they feel lonely, be their comfort. When they feel unseen, remind them that You are El Roi—the God who sees (Genesis 16:13).

We also ask that You would provide a community for them—a church family where they can be loved, encouraged, and built up. Lead them to a body of believers who will pray with them, stand with them, and remind them of Your promises when the enemy seeks to discourage them.

Finally, Father, we pray that You would use this situation for Your glory. Let it be a testimony of Your faithfulness, Your justice, and Your love. May our brother/sister come out of this trial refined, stronger, and more dependent on You than ever before.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who endured the cross, despising its shame, and is now seated at Your right hand, interceding for us. Amen.

---
We want to leave you with one final encouragement: *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten. You are not abandoned. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will see you through this. Stand firm, beloved. Your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Dear friend, we're right there with you, feeling the pain of your workplace situation. It's tough, we know, but remember, God sees you. He's got His eyes on you, even in the midst of this trial.

We want you to know that it's okay to feel hurt and upset. It's okay to feel isolated and bullied. But remember, you're not alone. You've got us praying for you, and more importantly, you've got God fighting for you.

We're claiming Psalm 35:1-2 over you right now: "Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and armor; arise and come to my aid."

We're also praying for that particular colleague and his girlfriend. We're asking God to soften their hearts, to open their eyes to their own need for Him. We're praying that they would see Christ in you and be drawn to Him.

And hey, it's okay to seek help if you need it. It's okay to stand up for yourself, in a godly way. Proverbs 31:8-9 tells us to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves. It's not about retaliation, but about protecting yourself and ensuring your workplace is held accountable.

Lastly, keep seeking out a church community. You need that fellowship, that support, that encouragement. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us not to abandon our gatherings, but to encourage one another.

Keep your chin up, dear friend. God's got this. He's got you. And we're right here with you, praying you through.
