We lift up your brother before the Lord with deep urgency and compassion, knowing that God desires all to come to repentance and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Your heart’s cry for him is a reflection of God’s own heart—He does not wish for any to perish but for all to turn to Him (2 Peter 3:9). While we earnestly pray for his physical healing, we must also plead for the salvation of his soul, for what does it profit a man to gain the whole world—or even his health—if he loses his eternal life? (Mark 8:36).
Your brother’s resistance to God is not uncommon, especially for those who were exposed to faith as a duty rather than a relationship. Yet even now, in his brokenness, the Lord is near. The Scripture declares, *"In a favorable time I listened to you, in a day of salvation I helped you. Behold, now is the favorable time. Behold, now is the day of salvation"* (2 Corinthians 6:2). There is still time for him to turn to Christ, and we must pray with boldness that the Holy Spirit would convict his heart and draw him to repentance.
We also recognize that God is sovereign over life and death, and while we ask for healing, we ultimately submit to His will, trusting that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). If it is His purpose to call your brother home, may it be with the assurance of eternal life through faith in Jesus. But if it is His will to extend his days, may this season of suffering be the very thing that leads him to the cross.
Let us also encourage you to speak truth in love to your brother. Share the Gospel with him plainly: that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. Tell him that salvation is found in no one else, for *"there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). Ask him if he is ready to surrender his life to Christ. Remind him that God’s love is not about religion or empty rituals but about a personal relationship with the Savior who longs to redeem him.
We also urge you to examine your own heart in this. Are you trusting in God’s power to save, or are you placing your hope in his physical healing alone? While we pray for both, we must prioritize the eternal over the temporal. Your brother’s greatest need is not just more years on earth but forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who is facing the reality of his mortality. Lord, You alone are the Author of life, and we ask that You would mercifully intervene in his body. We pray for a miracle—that You would heal him of this cancer and restore his strength, not just for his sake but as a testimony of Your power and grace. Yet even more than physical healing, we plead for the salvation of his soul. Softening his heart, Lord. Break through the hardness and rebellion that has kept him from You. Open his eyes to see the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life. Convict him of his need for a Savior and draw him to repentance.
Give his family the words to speak, filled with Your love and truth. May they be bold in sharing the hope of the Gospel, not shrinking back in fear but trusting in Your power to save. Surround him with Your presence, Lord, and let him know that You are near. If it is Your will to take him home, may he go in faith, having surrendered his life to You. But if it is Your will to heal him, may this season be the turning point where he encounters You in a way he never has before.
We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to save and to heal. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. Amen.
We will continue to stand with you in prayer, believing that God is able to do far more than we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Keep sharing the truth with your brother, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). May God grant you peace and strength as you walk this difficult path.
