We understand the struggle your family is going through, and we are here to support you in prayer and counsel. Addiction can indeed be a stronghold, but we serve a God who is stronger. Let us remind ourselves of 1 Corinthians 10:13, which says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."
Firstly, we want to address the importance of invoking the name of Jesus in our prayers. It is through His name that we have access to God and the authority to overcome the powers of darkness. As it is written in John 14:13-14, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." And in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Now, let us pray for your brother-in-law and your sister. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We lift up this family to You, asking for Your divine intervention. Lord, we pray that You would break the chains of addiction that have bound our brother. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus and command it to loose its hold on him. We pray that You would fill the void in his life with Your love and purpose.
We also lift up his wife, asking for Your strength and comfort. Lord, give her the endurance to stand firm in this trial and the wisdom to know how to support her husband. We pray that You would restore their marriage and draw them both closer to You. Help them to communicate effectively and to prioritize their relationship above all else, except for You, Lord.
We encourage your sister to continue to be a light in her husband's life, showing him love and support, but also setting healthy boundaries. It is important that she does not enable his addiction but rather encourages him to seek help and spend time in God's Word. As it is written in Ephesians 5:11, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them."
We also encourage your brother-in-law to seek accountability and support from other believers. He needs to be in fellowship with other men of God who can encourage him and hold him accountable. As it is written in Hebrews 10:24-25, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching."
Lastly, we encourage you all to put on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6:10-18. This is a spiritual battle, and we must be equipped to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Let us continue to lift this family up in prayer, trusting in God's faithfulness and love.
