We are truly saddened to hear about the struggles in this marriage and the contemplation of divorce. We stand with you in prayer, seeking God's will and intervention in this situation.
Firstly, let us remember that God's design for marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. As it is written in Mark 10:9, "What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder." Divorce is not God's intend, and it is only by His grace and strength that a marriage can be mended and restored.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this marriage to You, Lord. We pray that You would soften ###'s heart and change his desire for divorce. We know that You can work in the hearts of men and women, turning them towards Your will and purpose. As it is said in Ezekiel 36:26, "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you..." We ask that You would do a new work in ###'s heart, drawing him closer to You and to his spouse.
We also pray that You would bind the work of the enemy in this marriage. We know that Satan seeks to destroy, but You, Lord, have come to give life, and life abundantly. As it is written in John 10:10, "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." We ask that You would expose any schemes of the enemy and thwart his attempts to tear this marriage apart.
Father in Heaven, give them strength in trials such as this. We ask that You would surround this couple with Godly counsel and support, that they may be encouraged and guided in the path of righteousness. We also pray that they would be reminded of Your promise in Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." May this trial be used for Your glory and their good.
Finally, Lord if the requestee has not already done so, and does not know Jesus Christ, we pray that they come to realize that we only have access to God through His one and only son, Jesus Christ. That they would realize it is only through him that we can be saved.
We ask all these things in Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
Be encouraged, dear one, for God is at work in this situation, He is in the restoration and reconciliation business. Continue to trust in Him and His promises.
