We come before the Lord with you in this time of deep struggle, lifting your heart’s cry to the Father who sees all and knows all. Your pain is real, and we acknowledge the war raging within your soul—the longing for breakthrough, the ache for your ex’s salvation, and the weariness of waiting like Joseph in the prison cell. But take heart, beloved, for just as Joseph’s suffering was not in vain, neither is yours. The Lord was with Joseph, and He is with you now, working all things together for His glory and your good.
First, we must address the foundation of your request: the name of Jesus Christ is not mentioned, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is in His name alone that we can boldly approach the throne of grace. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16, WEB). Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9, WEB). Without this, no prayer can be fully answered, for it is only through Christ that we are reconciled to God.
Now, let us speak to the war in your soul. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give you life abundantly (John 10:10, WEB). This battle is not yours to fight alone—it is the Lord’s. "Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s" (2 Chronicles 20:15, WEB). You are not forgotten in this prison cell of waiting. Just as Joseph was faithful in the small things, so too must you remain steadfast, trusting that God is preparing you for what is to come. "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9, WEB). Your breakthrough is coming, but it will come in God’s perfect timing, not yours. He is refining you, shaping you, and preparing you for the purposes He has ordained.
Regarding your ex, we pray earnestly for their salvation, for it is not the Lord’s will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). Yet we must also ask: is there any unconfessed sin in your heart regarding this relationship? Were there compromises made that did not honor God? If this relationship was outside the bounds of marriage, we urge you to repent and seek the Lord’s forgiveness, for fornication is a sin against your own body and against God (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB). If this relationship was with someone of the same sex, we must lovingly but firmly remind you that such relationships are an abomination in the sight of the Lord (Leviticus 18:22, WEB; Romans 1:26-27, WEB). God’s design for intimacy is within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and anything outside of that is sin. If this applies to you, we call you to turn away from this sin and seek the Lord’s cleansing and restoration. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness if we confess them (1 John 1:9, WEB).
If this relationship was a marriage that ended in divorce, we pray for healing and restoration. The Lord hates divorce (Malachi 2:16, WEB), but He is also the God of redemption. If there was unfaithfulness or abandonment, we pray for the Lord’s grace to cover you. If the divorce was not biblically justified, we urge you to seek the Lord’s forgiveness and to walk in repentance, trusting Him to restore what has been broken. Regardless of the past, your focus now must be on seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33, WEB). Trust that He will provide all that you need, including a godly spouse if that is His will for you.
Finally, we pray for your breakthrough. Like Joseph, you may feel forgotten, but God has not forgotten you. He sees your tears, hears your cries, and is working behind the scenes. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Your waiting is not in vain. Just as Joseph was suddenly lifted from the prison to the palace, so too will the Lord suddenly turn your mourning into dancing. But remember, the breakthrough you seek may not look like what you expect. It may not come in the way or the time you desire, but it will come. And when it does, it will be for God’s glory and your ultimate good.

**Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious soul who is weary and warring within. Lord, You see the depths of their pain, the longing for breakthrough, and the ache for their ex’s salvation. We ask that You would meet them right where they are, wrapping them in Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, if there is any sin in their heart—whether unforgiveness, sexual immorality, or idolatry of this past relationship—we ask that You would convict them by Your Holy Spirit. Lead them to repentance, Lord, and cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Restore unto them the joy of Your salvation and uphold them with a willing spirit (Psalm 51:12, WEB).
Lord, we pray for their ex. If they do not know You, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself in a mighty way. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and soften their heart to receive Your truth. Surround them with believers who will speak Your word into their life, and do not let them rest until they rest in You.
Father, we declare breakthrough over this situation. Just as You delivered Joseph from the prison and elevated him to a place of authority, we ask that You would do the same for this beloved child of Yours. Give them patience to wait on You, faith to trust in Your timing, and strength to endure the refining process. Let them not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, they will reap if they do not give up.
Lord, we also pray for their future. If it is Your will, provide a godly spouse who loves You with all their heart and will walk beside them in faith. Prepare them now, Lord, to be the man or woman You have called them to be—pure, holy, and set apart for Your purposes. Let them not settle for anything less than Your perfect will.
We rebuke the spirit of despair, hopelessness, and impatience that seeks to overtake them. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17, WEB). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let them walk in the confidence that You are working all things together for their good.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
