Break a soul tie

We understand the deep spiritual weight of what you’re seeking—freedom from an ungodly soul tie. The Bible warns us that when we bind ourselves to others outside of God’s will—whether through emotional, physical, or spiritual intimacy—it can create bonds that defile and hinder our walk with Christ. Soul ties formed through fornication, adultery, ungodly relationships, or even deep emotional attachments that are not centered on Christ can become chains that the enemy uses to manipulate, distract, and even destroy. The good news is that Jesus came to set the captives free, and through repentance, the blood of Christ, and the authority we have in His name, these ties can be severed.

First, we must address the foundation of this request: **there is no spiritual power or freedom apart from the name of Jesus Christ.** If your prayer does not explicitly invoke His name, it is powerless, for Scripture declares, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6) and the authority to break every ungodly bond. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ as your Lord and Savior, this is the first and most urgent step. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). Without this, no prayer for deliverance can stand.

Assuming you are a believer, let us examine what Scripture says about soul ties. When two people become "one flesh" through sexual intimacy (1 Corinthians 6:16), a bond is formed that God intended only for the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Outside of marriage, this bond is unholy and gives the enemy legal ground to torment, confuse, and even influence your emotions, thoughts, and spiritual life. The same can happen through deep emotional attachments that replace your devotion to Christ or through ungodly covenants (like occult practices, vows, or even repeated sinful patterns with someone). The apostle Paul warns, *"Don’t you know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!"* (1 Corinthians 6:15, WEB). This is a call to **radical separation** from sin and a return to holiness.

To break a soul tie, **repentance is non-negotiable.** You must turn away from the sin that created the tie—whether it was fornication, emotional idolatry, or any other ungodly bond—and renounce it before God. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). This is not just a one-time prayer but a lifestyle of turning from sin and pursuing righteousness. If the soul tie was formed through a sexual relationship outside of marriage, you must also **cut off all contact** with that person. *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB). Half-hearted repentance will not bring freedom; you must be willing to obey God fully, even if it is painful.

Now, let us pray together in the authority of Jesus’ name to break this ungodly tie. As we pray, we also declare that **you are being set free from every demonic assignment, every lingering emotion, and every ungodly influence** tied to this bond. The blood of Jesus is more than enough to cleanse you and restore you to wholeness.

---
**Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who breaks chains, who sets the captives free, and who restores what the enemy has stolen. Today, we stand in the gap for Your child who is seeking freedom from an ungodly soul tie—a bond that was never Your will and that has brought confusion, pain, and spiritual oppression.

Lord, we ask that You would expose every hidden tie, every ungodly covenant, and every demonic assignment that has been attached to [this person’s] life through sinful relationships, emotional idolatry, or unholy connections. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we command every ungodly soul tie to be **severed now in the name of Jesus Christ.** We break every curse, every hex, every vow, and every agreement made in the flesh or in the spirit that has given the enemy access. We declare that **no weapon formed against [this person] shall prosper** (Isaiah 54:17), and that every tongue that rises against them in judgment is condemned by the blood of Jesus.

Father, we repent on behalf of [this person] for any sin that opened the door to this bond—whether it was fornication, adultery, emotional dependence, or any other form of idolatry. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing by the blood of Jesus. *"Create in [them] a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within [them]"* (Psalm 51:10, WEB). Restore their mind, emotions, and will to alignment with Your Word. Let every memory, every trigger, and every ungodly desire be **washed away by the blood of the Lamb.**

We command every demonic spirit that has been assigned through this soul tie—spirits of lust, confusion, rejection, fear, torment, or control—to **be bound and cast out now in Jesus’ name.** We declare that [this person] is **no longer entangled** but is **free indeed** (John 8:36). We speak life, purity, and wholeness over their spirit, soul, and body. Let the fire of the Holy Spirit burn away every remnant of this ungodly connection, and let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we ask that You would surround [this person] with godly relationships—relationships that honor You and point them to Christ. If they are single, we pray for a **godly spouse** in Your timing, one who will cherish them as Christ loves the church. If they are married, we pray for restoration, healing, and a renewed covenant built on Your Word. Give them the strength to **flee from sexual immorality** and to **pursue holiness without which no one will see the Lord** (Hebrews 12:14).

Finally, Father, we ask that You would fill every void in [this person’s] life with **more of You.** Let them find their identity, worth, and fulfillment in Christ alone. *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4, WEB). May they walk in the freedom for which Christ set them free and never again be entangled in the yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).

We seal this prayer in the **precious, powerful, and matchless name of Jesus Christ.** Amen.

---
Now, beloved, **freedom requires stewardship.** You cannot pray this prayer and then return to the same patterns, the same conversations, or the same environments that led to this bond. *"Don’t you know that to whom you present yourselves as servants to obedience, his servants you are whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?"* (Romans 6:16, WEB). You must **walk in obedience** to maintain this freedom.

Here are practical steps to take:
1. **Cut off all contact** with the person tied to this ungodly bond. This includes texts, calls, social media, and even mutual friends who may pull you back. *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB).
2. **Renew your mind** with the Word of God. Meditate on Scriptures about purity, freedom, and your identity in Christ (e.g., Romans 12:2, Psalm 119:9).
3. **Fill your life with godly community.** Surround yourself with believers who will encourage you in holiness and accountability.
4. **Guard your heart.** *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life"* (Proverbs 4:23, WEB). Do not entertain fantasies, memories, or emotions tied to this past bond.
5. **Walk in forgiveness.** If there is bitterness or resentment toward this person or yourself, release it to God. Unforgiveness can keep you bound (Matthew 6:14-15).

If this soul tie was formed through a same-sex relationship, we must lovingly but firmly address this: **homosexuality is a sin against God’s design for sexuality and marriage** (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). The good news is that **no sin is beyond the reach of God’s grace.** Many have found freedom and restoration through repentance and a life surrendered to Christ. We encourage you to seek biblical counseling and discipleship to walk in victory over this struggle.

Lastly, if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, **this is your moment.** Freedom from soul ties—or any bondage—is only possible through Him. *"Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’"* (John 14:6, WEB). Confess your sins, turn from them, and invite Jesus to be your Lord. Then, and only then, will you have the authority to walk in true and lasting freedom.

We are standing with you in prayer and believe that **God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you** (Philippians 1:6). Stay close to Him, and do not give the enemy a foothold. You are **more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you** (Romans 8:37). Walk in that truth!
