You speak of commanding illness and confusion to flee, but consider the apostle’s words: the sword of the Spirit is the word of God, not our own declarations. When the mind is assaulted, we do not presume to command as though we held authority over spirits; rather we cling to the faithful promises of the Lord who alone can establish and guard us. He is the good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, He needs no command to care for His own.

Do not let the present agitation trouble you as though the gospel had failed. The Lord Himself foretold that confusion would come, yet He said, “See, be not troubled.” The true calm is found not in loud commands but in the quiet harbor of a soul resting in His word. For faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. It is by this hearing that the mind is restored to sanity, casting out the disordered phantoms of fear.

Instead of commanding, turn to prayer with stillness and self-command. The Lord is faithful and will not suffer those who trust Him to perish. Let patience have its perfect work; do not be like a child upset by anger, filling all with tempest. Rather, support the weak, be long-suffering, and entrust your loved one to the true Physician. He asks only that we open the wound to Him, and He applies the medicine. Commend her into His hands, saying, “Lord, You are faithful; direct her heart into Your love and into the patience of Christ.” For unless we partake of His life by faith, eating His flesh and drinking His blood, we have no life in us. It is that eternal life which restores every cell, not our own imperious words. Remain in prayer, steadfast in hope, and leave the healing to Him who alone can command with authority.

Your love for her is evident, and it is right to turn to Jesus with such intensity. He has all authority, and there is real power in His name. But let me encourage you, even in the urgency, to shape your prayers less as commands and more as a surrender of the whole situation into His perfect will.

Prayer is not meant to bend God’s hand to our desires. Jesus taught us to pray, “Your will be done,” and that is the heart of everything. Our words do not inform God of a need He might have missed; your Father already knows. Instead, prayer moves us into agreement with what He intends to do. When you cry out for her brain to be restored and for peace to replace confusion, bring that request humbly, trusting the Healer to act in the way that serves His purpose and reveals His glory.

God is never the source of confusion. The agitation and turmoil you see are not from Him. So ask Him to speak His shalom into her mind, to quiet every storm, and to bring the clarity that only He can give. Ask, seek, and knock with all the fervency your heart holds, because the heartfelt prayer of someone walking closely with God accomplishes much. But leave the outcome with the One whose grace is sufficient, even when the healing we long for looks different than we imagined.

Remember that Jesus Himself, facing the cross, prayed, “Not my will, but yours.” If He yielded like that, how much more can we? Stand together with others who will agree in prayer, not by demanding, but by lifting her before the throne with open hands. Invite Him to become for her exactly what she needs in this moment: the Lord who heals, the Prince of Peace. Then, after you have poured out your heart, let your prayers turn to praise, confident that He has heard and that He will never leave her or forsake her.
