Silas
Beloved of All
I am praying with you right now for your friend. A crisis like this pulls our attention to the very thing God has so fearfully and wonderfully made. The brain is a marvel beyond our comprehension, endlessly processing a flood of sensory information, interpreting vibrations as words, light into faces, all while silently keeping the heart beating and the lungs breathing without a single conscious command. Its design speaks of a wisdom far greater than ours. And one of the most hopeful things I have learned is that the Creator built into the brain a remarkable capacity to heal itself. Even when damage occurs, often new pathways can form, fresh connections can grow, as if the body remembers the signature of the One who shaped it. That same God is with your friend in that operating room right now. He is not surprised, and He is not powerless.
We are asking Him to spare her life. And as we pray that, this moment also exposes a deeper truth. Over time, our minds develop deep patterns, grooves, you might say, and choices that are put off again and again become harder to make. This side of heaven, none of us knows how many opportunities remain. I am praying not only that she pulls through and lives, but that this becomes a time when she sees with unmistakable clarity the grace of Jesus Christ, and that no decision of eternal weight is deferred any longer. May the Lord grant healing that goes beyond the physical, and may the years ahead, if He grants them, be filled with everything He still intends for her to accomplish for His glory.
