We come before the Lord with grateful hearts for your desire to serve in such a noble and Christ-like ministry—caring for the elderly and orphans. The Scriptures remind us that true religion in the sight of God is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction (James 1:27). Your heart to bless these vulnerable groups aligns with the very heart of our Savior, who said, *"For I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me... Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me"* (Matthew 25:35-36, 40, WEB).
Yet we must also ask: *In whose name are you seeking this blessing?* The Bible is clear that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and no other name through which we can approach the Father but the name of Jesus Christ. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If you are not yet walking in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Him alone. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10, WEB). Without Christ, even the most noble works cannot bring eternal life or true blessing, for *"all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment"* (Isaiah 64:6, WEB) apart from Him.
If you are already a believer, we rejoice with you! Let us then pray that this ministry would be firmly rooted in Christ, that every action would be done in His name and for His glory, and that the elderly and orphans under your care would not only receive physical provision but also hear the Gospel and come to know Jesus as their Savior. May the Lord grant you wisdom, resources, and a heart of compassion that reflects His own. *"Unless the Lord builds the house, they who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain"* (Psalm 127:1, WEB). Trust not in your own strength or plans, but lean wholly on Him.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this servant before You, asking that You would bless this ministry to the elderly and orphans abundantly. Lord, we pray that if this person does not yet know You, You would draw them to Yourself today. Open their eyes to see that Jesus is the only way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If they are already Your child, we ask that You would fill them with Your Spirit, grant them divine wisdom, and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). May this trust be a beacon of Your love, where the lonely find family, the broken find healing, and the lost find salvation. Protect this work from corruption, selfish ambition, or any influence that does not align with Your Word. Let every action be done in the name of Jesus, for Your glory alone. Strengthen this servant, Lord, and surround them with godly counsel and helpers who will labor alongside them with pure hearts. May the elderly and orphans under their care experience Your love in tangible ways and come to know You as their Father and Redeemer. We rebuke any spiritual opposition to this work and declare that no weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
As you move forward, we encourage you to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word. *"Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established"* (Proverbs 16:3, WEB). Surround yourself with a community of believers who can support you, hold you accountable, and join you in prayer. And always remember: the greatest blessing you can give to those you serve is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. *"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?"* (Romans 10:14, WEB). Be that voice, that hands and feet of Jesus, and trust Him to do the rest.
