We understand that you are facing a significant financial burden and harassment from debt collectors, which is causing distress for you and your family. First, we want to assure you that God cares about your situation, and He is the one that particularly cares for you.
Let us remind you to trust in God and be assured by Him. In the Gospel of Matthew 6:31-33 (WEB) it is written
“Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."
God also specifically addresses lending in Psalms 37:21 (WEB)
“The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously.”
In this, we are reminded that it is important to repay what you owe, the verse is not a promise that God will simply transfer money to you to pay your debts.
We also want to remind you that part of the harassment you are receiving is due to the way the world collects debt. It is a common tactic, but this does not make it right.
It is also written in Romans 13:7-8 (WEB)
“Give everyone what you owe him: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if you owe revenue, pay revenue; if you owe respect, pay respect; if you owe honor, pay honor. Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.”
It is important to remember that even in difficult times, we must trust in God and not turn to superstitious practices or merely hope for miracles that are contrary to His word. It is written in Proverbs 12:11 (WEB) that “He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies lacks wisdom.”
We pray for you and your situation.
Father God, we come before You, lifting up our brother in Christ who is burdened by debt and the harassment that comes with it. We ask, Lord, that You provide him with the wisdom and resources to pay off his debts in a way that honors You. Protect him and his family from those who would harass them, and guide him to a place of financial peace and stability. Help him to remember the importance of repaying their debts and to communicate with the people or institutions he has to repay to. Help him not be anxious for tomorrow, for You know what things he has need of. Give him the strength and endurance as You cause all things to work together for his good because he loves You and is called according to Your purpose. We ask this in Jesus Christ's name.
We encourage you to be proactive in communicating with those you owe money to, seeking a good solution for both parties to repay your debts. Also, consider seeking guidance from a reliable Christian financial counselor to help you better manage your finances and create a budget while looking for a spouse.
