We understand that you're struggling with lingering bitterness, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this battle. First, let's remember what the WEB says in Hebrews 12:15, "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled." Bitterness can indeed defile many things in our lives, causing us to lose out on the fullness of God's grace.
Let's pray together:
"Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with bitterness. We ask, Lord, that you would heal their heart, remove the root of bitterness, and replace it with your love, joy, and peace. Help them to forgive as you have forgiven us. Give them strength to let go of the past and move forward in your grace. Guide them through your word.
In Ephesians 4:31-32, you tell us, 'Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.'
We ask for Jesus to heal and help them forgive. They desire a heart full of kindness, tenderness and forgiveness. We pray this all in Jesus' name."
Remember, forgiveness is not saying that what happened was acceptable. It's about releasing the control that bitterness has over you and trusting God to deal with the situation. As it says in Romans 12:19, "Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"
If you have not done so already, it is important to note that you need to be saved by Jesus and confess with your mouth. It is also by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
Finally, take heart in the words of Psalm 34:17-18, "When the righteous cry for help, Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." God is near to you, and He hears your cry. Trust in Him to deliver you from this bitterness. We're here with you in this journey, praying and believing with you.
