Bipolar ### facing 3 1st degree assault charges with heavy ### time in prison

Ethuirrath

Disciple of Prayer
He did not harm anyone but had bear spray and a knife when police were in the street and charged at them (suicide by cop) resulting in him sustaining gunshot wounds in both arms and emergency surgeries. He had Bipolar Mania at the time and needs understanding and help to reduce his charges to mental health assistance and impose mandatory medications so this won't happen again. He has spent 15 years off and on with therapy, medications, mental health classes. The last 2 years he has not been on medications. He is deeply sorry and struggling with prison time. Incarceration would not be helpful or beneficial in his case. Please Heavenly Father see my ###'s heart and true regret for what has happened and shed some light so that he can get the help and support he needs without incarceration. I say this In Jesus Name Amen

We lift up this brother before the Lord with deep compassion, knowing that his struggles are not just against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of darkness that seek to destroy God’s children. The enemy would love nothing more than to see him crushed under the weight of guilt, fear, and a system that may not fully understand the complexities of mental illness. Yet we serve a God who is greater—a God of mercy, justice, and restoration. He is the One who binds up the brokenhearted, who sets captives free, and who turns even the darkest circumstances into testimonies of His grace.

The Scriptures remind us in **Psalm 34:18**, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* And in **Isaiah 41:10**, He declares, *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* This brother is not beyond hope, nor is he beyond the reach of God’s power. The Lord sees his remorse, his cry for help, and the genuine desire in his heart to walk in wholeness. We must trust that God is able to move in the hearts of judges, lawyers, and medical professionals to bring about a just and merciful outcome—one that prioritizes healing over punishment, restoration over destruction.

At the same time, we must speak truth in love. Mental illness does not excuse sin, but it does explain the battle this brother faces. His actions were dangerous, not just to himself but to others, and they stemmed from a place of deep brokenness. The fact that he was off his medication for two years is a critical detail. **Proverbs 25:28** warns, *"Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint."* Medication, while not a perfect solution, can be a tool God uses to bring stability, just as He uses doctors, therapists, and the support of the body of Christ. We pray that this brother would humbly submit to the treatment and accountability he needs—not as a punishment, but as a lifeline. If incarceration is avoided, it must be replaced with a structured plan that includes mandatory medical care, counseling rooted in biblical truth, and a strong support system of believers who will walk alongside him in discipleship.

We also recognize that suicide—even in the form of "suicide by cop"—is a direct attack from the enemy, who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (**John 10:10**). The desire to end one’s life is a lie from the pit of hell, a distortion of the truth that every life has purpose and value in God’s eyes. We rebuke this spirit of despair and declare that this brother’s story is not over. The Lord has plans for him, plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give him a future and a hope (**Jeremiah 29:11**). We pray that he would cling to this truth, even in his darkest moments, and that he would find his identity not in his diagnosis or his mistakes, but in Christ alone.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this brother who is trapped in the storm of his own mind and the consequences of his actions. Lord, You know the depths of his pain, the chaos of his thoughts, and the sincerity of his repentance. We ask You to intervene mightily in his case. Soften the hearts of those in authority over his situation—judges, prosecutors, medical professionals—give them wisdom and discernment to see beyond the charges and recognize the cry of a wounded soul in need of healing. Father, we ask that You would turn what the enemy meant for destruction into a testimony of Your redemption. If it is Your will, spare him from incarceration and instead direct him into a program that will provide the medical, emotional, and spiritual support he desperately needs.

Lord Jesus, You are the Great Physician. We pray for complete healing over his mind, body, and spirit. Restore the chemical imbalances, calm the storms of mania and depression, and fill the voids in his heart with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (**Philippians 4:7**). Help him to surrender fully to the treatment and accountability necessary for his recovery, and surround him with godly counselors and believers who will speak life into him. Break the chains of shame and condemnation, and let him know that his worth is found in You alone.

We also pray for his protection in this season. If he must remain in custody for now, guard him from harm, from the influence of darkness, and from the despair that would whisper lies to his soul. Let this time be one of reflection, repentance, and drawing nearer to You. Remind him that even in the lowest valley, You are with him (**Psalm 23:4**), and that Your mercy is new every morning (**Lamentations 3:22-23**).

Father, we declare that this brother’s life is not over. You have a purpose for him, and we ask that You would reveal it to him in ways he cannot deny. Use this trial to refine him, to draw him closer to You, and to equip him to minister to others who face similar battles. Let his story be one of victory, not defeat.

Finally, Lord, we ask for Your provision—financially, emotionally, and spiritually—for him and his loved ones during this time. Give them strength, patience, and unwavering faith as they navigate this difficult season.

We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who makes all things new. Amen.
