being bald

Please pray for the discrimination I received for the hairstyle I have. I've been told that being bold is equivalent to cancer, criminal activity, imprisonment, bearing bad children, aging, bad health, etc and many other negative stereotypes. In Jesus name Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We stand with you in prayer over the hurt and discrimination you have faced because of being bald, and we bring this burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name.

It is painful to be judged and labeled by outward appearance, and the stereotypes you have endured are not truth. The world often judges by what it sees, but God does not. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart, 1 Samuel 16:7. Your worth is not determined by hair or the lack of it, but by being fearfully and wonderfully made by God, Psalm 139:14, created in His image and precious in His sight.

Scripture even speaks directly to baldness and makes it clear it is not a mark of shame or uncleanness. If a man’s hair has fallen from his head, he is bald. Yet he is clean, Leviticus 13:40. The prophet Elisha was bald and was mocked for it by youths, yet God defended him, 2 Kings 2:23-24, showing that to mock someone for such a thing is wrong in the eyes of the Lord. The stereotypes you listed linking baldness to criminal activity, bad health, bearing bad children, or other evils are false and cruel, and we rebuke that kind of judgment. God calls us not to judge according to appearance, but to judge righteous judgment, John 7:24, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, Mark 12:31.

We also remember that true beauty and dignity before God is not in outward adornment. Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning, but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God, 1 Peter 3:3-4. Whether a person has a full head of hair, is bald by nature, by age, or by choice of hairstyle, his value remains the same before Christ.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our brother who has been wounded by words and discrimination. We ask You to heal the hurt in his heart, to silence the lies that his appearance defines his character or his future, and to remind him daily that he is Your beloved child. Give him strength to forgive those who have stereotyped and insulted him, and help him to bless those who have mistreated him, as You command us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, Matthew 5:44. We pray also for those who have spoken these hurtful stereotypes, that You would convict their hearts, open their eyes to see people as You see them, and lead them to repentance. Let our brother walk in confidence and peace, knowing his identity is in Christ alone, and let no weapon of slander prosper against him. Help him to find joy and freedom in how You made him, and to use even this trial as a testimony of Your grace. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, for there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Amen.

We encourage you to keep your eyes on Christ and not on the opinions of men. Do not let these negative words take root in your heart. If people continue to discriminate, commit your cause to the Lord who judges righteously, 1 Peter 2:23, and seek fellowship with believers who will encourage you and see you as God sees you. You are not defined by a hairstyle, but by the love of God poured into your heart through Jesus.

We appreciate you sharing this with us. Being judged or labeled because you are bald is painful, and hearing those kinds of stereotypes about health, character, or your future would weigh on anyone.

Those comments say more about other people's assumptions than about who you actually are. Being bald does not mean any of those things, and it does not determine your worth, your health, or what kind of life you will have.

It makes sense this has stung. When the remarks keep coming, it can help to have a steady way to respond. Some find it helpful to have a brief, calm reply ready and to step away when a conversation turns demeaning, and to stay close to a few people who know you and value you for who you are, not how you look. If this is happening at work or in a place where you should be treated fairly, talking with a trusted pastor, counselor, or appropriate contact there can also give you clearer options.

We are praying for you to experience more peace and confidence in your daily life, and for wisdom in how to handle those hurtful moments.

Father, we lift our brother to You. You see how these words have hurt him. Comfort him, remind him he is valued and made with care, and give him wisdom and strength for each interaction. Help him to find encouragement from people who treat him with dignity. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

It is a painful thing to be despised for the outward form when the Lord Himself looks not on the outward appearance but upon the heart. Man judges by the hair of the head or the lack of it, and attaches folly to it, saying this signifies disease or crime or age or ill health, but the judgments of men are vain and often cruel. Remember it is written that man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart, and your worth before God is not measured by a hairstyle or by baldness.

You have asked for prayer concerning the unkind stereotypes laid upon you, and it is right to bring this burden to the Throne of Grace. You may come there with boldness, not because there is any merit in yourself, but because Jesus Christ has entered into the heavens for us and pleads His one sacrifice perpetually before the throne. The greatest boldness in prayer is perfectly consistent with the lowest self humiliation. Come then humbly and yet confidently, for you are bidden to come to the Throne of Grace, and your prayers ascend with the merit of Christ's atoning blood giving them acceptance with His Father.

Do not let the scorn of others drive you to a false estimate of yourself, either to pride or to despair. Every Christian living near to God will feel a proper self abasement, yet there is a mock humility which is the offspring of self conceit and not of self knowledge. Instead, set Caution and Self examination at the helm and cry to God, Search me and know my heart. Keep your own vineyard before the Lord, and leave the judgment of your outward person to Him who made you. If others speak evil against you without cause, commit your cause to Him who judges righteously.

There is a joy which does not depend upon outward comforts. Philosophers, it is said, can be merry without music, and certainly Christians can joy in God without outward comforts, and they can even take joyfully the spoiling of their goods or the wounding of their reputation. Your acceptance with God does not hang upon whether men accept your appearance. When this is known and felt, acceptance by faith will follow. Jesus is entered into the heavens for us, can we doubt our acceptance with God. On Jubilee morning every man was free simply because Jubilee was proclaimed, without money and without price, so is our freedom and acceptance through the blood of Christ alone.

I pray for you now, that the Lord will guard your heart from bitterness and lift you above the unkind words of men. May He give you boldness at His throne to pour out this affliction before Him and to find Him faithful in the deep waters. May He teach you to live out of yourself for His glory, and to find that joy which is full and deep and lasting in Christ. May He comfort you with the assurance that you are accepted in the Beloved, not for hair or comeliness, but for the sake of His dear Son, and may He enable you to forgive those who have discriminated against you and to answer them with meekness and grace. May the fire of His love consume all self regard and fill you with gladness in serving Him, whatever men may say.

In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Advocate, Amen.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this dear one to you. You formed this person and you know every detail, and you see the pain caused by unkind words and discrimination. I ask you to bring comfort and healing to the hurt, to quiet the lies that have been spoken, and to give a deep assurance of being loved and valued by you. Help this person to know that their worth comes from being made in your image and redeemed by Christ, not from appearance or the opinions of others.

Lord, give grace to forgive those who have spoken harshly, and work in the hearts of those people that they would turn from judging others and speak with kindness and truth. Grant protection from further discrimination and give wisdom about how to respond when it happens. Fill this person with true boldness, not as the world uses the word, but as courage to speak and live faithfully for you, with a gentle and humble heart, trusting in your strength.

May you be near each day, giving peace that passes understanding and confidence to walk with head lifted up in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only Savior, Amen.
