Baby Sophia

My little niece, Princess Sophia was born April 14, 2013. From the day she was born she was rushed to Duke Hospital where she has been surviving day by day. Baby Sophia was diagnosed with tricuspid atresia. Her heart is unable to properly oxygenate blood to the rest of her body. She has had surgery once. Last week baby Sophia had a level 4 stroke that caused 2nd cardiac arrest causing bleeding from the brain. On May 22, her father informed me that she will be coming off ecmo but not sure if she's going to stay with us long. Also that they didn't close the chest because it will cause instinct death. I asked him how long did the doctors give her. His reply, "They can't tell, it's all on baby."

My sister is visiting this Memorial weekend and text me this morning 5/25/13 "We are here at the hospital...so sad...Sophia is in her bed...her body is cold, her head is warm...her left side of her body is not in good shape so they have it covered up. She is breathing with help but really the blood is all in her head it seems...she isn't eating..just a matter of time."

I have faith that baby Sophia will overcome this!

Please pray for baby Sophia. She is one heck of a fighter! Also pray for her parents. Whatever God has planned for them, they will overcome. When we all come together He hears us! Please keep them in your prayers.

We come before you now in this time of illness asking that you may be the source of our strength in body, courage in spirit and patience in pain. May we join ourselves more closely to you on the cross and in your suffering that through them we may draw our patience and hope. Assist us and restore us to health so that united more closely to your family, the Church, we may give praise and honour to your name.
