The Sun-Struck Child
A Motherly God
The Touchstone of Godly Sincerity
We hear the desire of your heart for a baby boy and we join with you in bringing this precious life before the Lord, for every child is fearfully and wonderfully formed by His hand.

We want to gently share biblical truth with you about how God forms life in the womb. Scripture tells us that God Himself determines and knits together each child. You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:13-14. Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you Jeremiah 1:5 and So God created man in his own image. In the image of God he created him. Male and female he created them Genesis 1:27. From the very beginning, our gender as male or female is not an accident or a mistake, but a sovereign choice of our Creator who makes no errors. Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward Psalm 127:3, and Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above James 1:17, whether that gift is a son or a daughter.

We understand that in many families and cultures there can be a deep longing for a son, and disappointment if an ultrasound indicates a daughter, but we must lovingly rebuke the idea that a girl is less valuable than a boy or that we can demand God change what He has already ordained. Both sons and daughters bear the image of God equally and are to be received with thanksgiving and joy. To ask God to change the gender of the child He is forming can come from a place of not fully trusting His perfect will. His ways are higher than our ways Isaiah 55:8-9, and we are called to pray Your Kingdom come. Your will be done Matthew 6:10, trusting that what He gives is best. We encourage you to surrender this desire to Him and to ask instead for a healthy child and a healthy mother, and for grace to love and raise whatever child He entrusts to you for His glory. We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him Romans 8:28.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because of Jesus' death and resurrection that we can boldly bring our prayers to God, and we must place our trust in Him not only for this baby but for our eternal salvation.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this parent and this precious baby forming in the womb. Lord, You know the longing for a son, and You know every detail of this child whom You are knitting together. We ask for Your will to be done in this pregnancy. Grant health and strength to the mother and to the baby, protect them from all harm, and let this child be born in Your perfect timing and in perfect health. Give this parent a heart of peace and trust, casting all anxiety on You because You care for us 1 Peter 5:7, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Help them to receive with joy whatever gift You give, whether son or daughter, and to raise this child to know and love You. Teach them to trust that You make all things beautiful in Your time and that Your plans are for good. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and our only hope, amen.

We have been holding you and your baby before the Lord since we read your request. Wanting a son is a deep and personal hope, and we understand why this feels so urgent to you right now.

We don't know what the scans have shown or what you have been told to expect, but we know God already knows and loves this child completely. Whatever the outcome, this little life is fearfully made and held in His care, and so are you as you carry and wait.

If you haven't already, it can help to stay close to your prenatal care team and let them know what is on your heart as well as how you and the baby are doing physically. Having a trusted friend, family member or pastor to talk openly with in these weeks can also lighten the weight of waiting.

We are asking God to give you peace day by day, to watch over you both and keep you healthy, and to prepare your heart for the good plans He has for your family.

Father, we bring this mother and child to You. Cover them with Your protection, grant strength and calm to this mother, and help her to rest in Your loving will for this baby. Give wisdom to those caring for them and fill this home with Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request concerning the child you carry has been heard and brought before the Lord in prayer, and we answer you with tenderness and truth.

We are taught in Scripture that God forms the child in the womb, and that He has made us male and female by His own wise and good design. There is no attribute of God more comforting to His children than the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty. Under the most adverse circumstances, in the most severe troubles, we believe that Sovereignty has ordained our afflictions, that Sovereignty overrules them, and that Sovereignty will sanctify them all. We must learn to recognize and admire it, for there is Divine Sovereignty in all this, and especially in the distribution of His gifts. The child given to you, whether son or daughter, is not by chance but by the hand of a gracious Sovereign who does all things well.

For this reason we cannot ask the Lord to change the child from girl to boy according to our preference, for that would be to ask Him to set aside His own perfect workmanship. Rather we are called to cultivate that contentment which is one of the flowers of heaven. Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions, nor in the fulfilling of every wish. True peace is found not when God grants all we desire, but when we learn to desire what God has graciously granted, and to receive it with thanksgiving.

Therefore our prayer for you is not that God would alter His forming hand, but that He would grant you health and strength, keep both mother and child in safety, and give you grace to receive this little one as a precious gift from Him. We pray that you may have as much peaceful contentment in your breast while you wait as when your joy is fulfilled, trusting that His will is best.

And we would remind you that God's tender mercy is exactly suited to you in this season. Almost every page of Scripture speaks to you, sinner, with a message of love, and says, Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation. What the Gospel asks of us is not to bring a price or a claim, but to look to Christ, to trust in the blood of Jesus Christ alone for salvation. He is the sinner's Savior, and where God begins a work He will complete it.

May the Lord teach you from your youth as He taught David, and may you be enabled to declare His wondrous works in your own life, finding in Christ all the comfort, hope and contentment your heart requires. We pray that you will cast your cares upon Him, trust His sovereign goodness, and rejoice in the life He has entrusted to you.

We have received your request regarding your baby girl and your desire for a baby boy, and we have brought you and your child before the Lord in prayer.

We understand that parents often carry deep hopes and preferences in their hearts during pregnancy, and we hear the longing expressed in your request. At the same time Scripture teaches us that every child is formed by God's own hand and is fearfully and wonderfully made. As the Psalmist says, God knits us together in the womb, and Jesus taught us to trust our heavenly Father's wise and loving design in all things.

We cannot pray that God would change the gender He has given, for that would be to ask Him to set aside His good creation and purpose. Instead we pray according to His will for what is truly good for you and your daughter.

We are praying that God will grant health and safety to both mother and child, that He will give you peace and joy in receiving this little girl as a gift from His hand, and that He will strengthen you with contentment and trust in His sovereignty. We pray also that He will draw you closer to Himself through Jesus Christ, and that your home will be filled with thankfulness for the life He has entrusted to you.

If you are carrying disappointment or fear, we encourage you to bring those feelings honestly to the Lord, asking Him to shape your heart to love and cherish the child He has given. We will continue to pray for you, and we invite you to seek support and counsel in your local church as you prepare to welcome your daughter.
