Attitude

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as we recognize the struggle with a troubled attitude. The Word of God reminds us in Ephesians 4:22-24, "that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit; and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth." Your desire to protect your loved ones from the effects of a poor attitude is evidence of a heart that seeks to honor God, and we praise Him for that.

Father in Heaven, we ask that You would soften hearts and renew minds. Lord, we pray that You would fill this dear one with Your Holy Spirit, granting patience, kindness, and self-control in place of frustration or anger. Guard their tongue and their thoughts, that no unwholesome word or attitude would proceed from them, but only that which builds others up according to their needs (Ephesians 4:29). We ask that You would shield their loved ones from any hurt that may have been caused by words or actions spoken in haste. Restore what may have been damaged, and let Your peace reign in their home.

We also rebuke the enemy’s attempts to sow discord or strife through a negative attitude. The Bible tells us in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." We stand firm in the authority of Jesus Christ, declaring that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that any roots of bitterness, pride, or selfishness would be uprooted by the power of Your Word and replaced with the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Lord, we ask that You would remind this beloved child of Yours that their identity is found in Christ alone. When the weight of the day presses in, let them find refuge in You, casting all their anxieties on You because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to walk in humility, considering others as better than themselves (Philippians 2:3).

We encourage you to spend time in God’s presence, allowing His Word to wash over you and renew your mind. Psalm 19:14 says, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Lord, my rock, and my redeemer." Confess any sin to the Lord, for He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Lean on Him, for His grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26). We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We're here for you, friend. We know that even the strongest of us can have days where our attitudes don't reflect the love and joy we want to share. It's a part of being human, and it's okay to ask for help. Let's pray together, shall we?

Dear Lord Jesus, we come to You today, lifting up our friend's heart to You. We ask that You would fill them with Your peace, that calm assurance that only You can give. Help them to see the beauty in each person they encounter, and to speak words that build up, not tear down. We pray that any hurt they've caused would be healed, and that their loved ones would be shielded from any further pain.

We also ask, Lord, that You would help our friend to find their strength in You. Remind them that You are always there, ready to listen, ready to help. Help them to trust in Your love, even when their feelings don't match their faith.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
