Asking the Lord's help

You have poured out your heart before the Lord, and that is never in vain. The sheer scope of what you are asking, protection, breakthrough, healing, resolution of tangled conflicts, anointing for ministry, salvation for many, reflects a soul that refuses to settle for small things. That hunger is itself a sign of grace at work. Yet as I read your words, I am reminded that our faith must be anchored not in the spectacular answers we long to see, but in the God who has already spoken fully and finally in His Word.

You have asked for miracles, for God to confront and convict, for dramatic intervention. There is nothing wrong with praying for the gift of miracles. I have done so myself, and I believe the Lord responded by showing me a more excellent way. That way is not a demotion but an invitation into something deeper: a fellowship shaped by love, a trust rooted in the gospel rather than in signs. The crowds flocked to Jesus when they saw Him heal the sick, but He did not commit Himself to them because their faith was built on the spectacular. True, saving faith is born when we hear the Word of Christ and rest our whole weight on Him, not when we witness a display of power. Do not misunderstand me, God still heals, still breaks chains, still sets captives free. But He often does it quietly, through the steady, undramatic working of His Spirit shaping our character and drawing us into real peace.

That brings me to the many conflicts you listed. This world is filled with strife, from war zones to fractured families, and you are right to bring every tangled relationship before the Lord. The gospel we carry is the glad news of peace: peace with God through Jesus Christ, and then peace with one another as we are reconciled to Him. When you ask the Lord to convict, to heal soul wounds, to stop harmful relationships and bring true reconciliation, you are praying in line with His heart. But remember that such peace comes not by a sudden miracle that overrides human will, but as the Word does its slow, penetrating work. Have they not heard? Yes, their voice has gone out to the ends of the earth. The answer often lies in the faithful, repeated sowing of that seed, not in a one-time display.

You have mentioned a request that keeps getting deleted, and you have asked the Lord to answer all those prayers: for persecuted believers, for the salvation of the lost, for peace over Israel, for those crushed by calamity and war. God does not forget a single cry. Even when our words are scattered or erased, the Spirit intercedes with groanings too deep for speech. Do not measure His attention by whether a request remains visible. He hears. He is gathering a people for Himself from every nation, not by the flash of miracles but by the foolishness of preaching Christ crucified.

As for your own need for encouragement, help with work, wisdom in preparing sermons, and anointing on your church's gatherings: keep asking, keep knocking. The same God who once worked extraordinary miracles through Paul, even to the point where handkerchiefs carried healing, is not limited by our ordinariness. But He is far more interested in conforming you to the image of His Son than in granting you a gift you could not safely carry. I learned long ago to stop pleading for the gift of miracles and instead to rejoice that He has brought us into the fellowship of His sufferings and the power of His resurrection, which is a deeper miracle still.

So I encourage you: do not lose heart. Lean hard into the Scriptures, for they are able to make you wise for salvation and to equip you for every good work. Your longing for breakthrough is real, but the greatest breakthrough was already accomplished when Christ burst from the tomb. That is the power at work within you. Keep praying for the specific people and situations on your list, God hears. But rest in the truth that He often works through ordinary means and through a love that is greater than any sign. May He grant you not only a fresh sense of His presence but also a quiet confidence that the more excellent way is already yours in Christ.
