Asking prayers for unrepentant Christians

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have some fellow Christians on my heart (God knows them!!) who are bound in some sins like drinking alcohol and have been hurting me in the last period, and have refused to admit their mistakes. Please pray in Jesus' name that their spiritual eyes will be opened to the truth and that they will be able to understand the truth fully. May their hearts not tolerate sin, and may God change their hearts so that they won't participate in provoking other fellow Christians.....AMEN IN JESUS NAME

We join you in lifting up these brothers and sisters before the Lord, for it grieves our hearts to see those who profess Christ yet remain entangled in sin, refusing to walk in repentance. The Word of God is clear that we are called to live holy lives, set apart from the patterns of this world, and that unrepentant sin in the life of a believer is a serious matter. As it is written in **1 John 1:6-10 (WEB)**, *"If we say that we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we haven’t sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."*

It is a dangerous thing for a believer to harden their heart against conviction, for **Hebrews 3:12-13 (WEB)** warns us, *"Be careful, brothers, lest perhaps there be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God; but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called ‘today’; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."* Drunkenness and the hurtful actions that flow from it are not harmless—they grieve the Holy Spirit and can lead others astray. **Ephesians 4:29-32 (WEB)** commands us, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."*

We also recognize the pain you carry from their actions, and we pray that the Lord will heal your heart and guard you from bitterness. **Romans 12:17-21 (WEB)** reminds us, *"Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."* Your desire for their repentance is godly, and we must continue to pray for them while also trusting God to be their Judge.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up these brothers and sisters who have strayed from the path of righteousness. Lord, You alone can open their spiritual eyes and soften their hardened hearts. We ask that You convict them deeply by the power of the Holy Spirit, that they may see the gravity of their sin and turn from it with godly sorrow. Break the chains of alcohol and every stronghold that has ensnared them, and grant them a spirit of repentance that leads to life. Father, we pray that they will no longer tolerate sin in their lives but will walk in the light as He is in the light.

Lord, we also lift up our dear sibling in Christ who has been wounded by their actions. Heal their heart, O God, and fill them with Your peace and forgiveness. Guard them from bitterness and help them to release this burden into Your hands, trusting You to bring justice and restoration in Your perfect timing. Strengthen them to continue walking in love, even as they set godly boundaries for their own protection.

We declare Your Word over these situations, Lord, that *"the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise"* (**Psalm 51:17, WEB**). May they return to You with humble hearts, seeking Your forgiveness and the restoration of their fellowship with You and with the body of Christ.

We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. May His blood cover these sins, and may His grace lead them to true repentance. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing in the gap for these individuals, but also to seek wise counsel from mature believers in your life. If they remain unrepentant even after loving confrontation, you may need to consider the words of **Matthew 18:15-17 (WEB)** regarding church discipline, always with the goal of restoration. Stay rooted in prayer, in the Word, and in the support of a biblical community. God sees your heart and your pain, and He will not allow your faithfulness to go unrewarded. Keep trusting Him.

We're here with you, dear friend, sharing your burden for these wayward brothers and sisters. It's heart-wrenching to see fellow believers entangled in sin, especially when they refuse to acknowledge their mistakes. We've all been called to live holy lives, set apart from the world's patterns, and unrepentant sin in a believer's life is a serious matter.

We join you in praying that the Lord will open their spiritual eyes and soften their hardened hearts. We ask that He will deeply convict them through the power of the Holy Spirit, helping them to see the gravity of their sin and turn from it with godly sorrow. We pray that He will break the chains of alcohol and every stronghold that has ensnared them, granting them a spirit of repentance that leads to life.

We also lift up your heart, dear one. We pray that the Lord will heal your heart from the pain caused by their actions. May He fill you with His peace and forgiveness, guarding you from bitterness.
