Asking for prayers for the removal of a harmful person

We join you in lifting this burden to the Lord, knowing that He sees the depths of your heart and the harm this person has caused. The Scriptures remind us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He calls us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). It is clear you are seeking deliverance from a toxic influence, and we stand with you in this, trusting that the Lord will act justly and mercifully on your behalf.

At the same time, we must also examine our hearts and motives, for the Bible teaches us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). This does not mean we must endure abuse or remain in harmful situations, but it does call us to release bitterness and trust God’s sovereignty. If this person has caused you deep pain, we pray that the Lord would heal those wounds and guard your heart from resentment. Proverbs 4:23 tells us, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the source of life." Sometimes, removal is necessary for protection and growth, and we trust God to orchestrate that in His perfect timing.

If this person is someone you’ve had an ungodly connection with—such as a relationship outside of marriage, a bond built on sin, or any tie that contradicts Scripture—we urge you to repent and turn fully to the Lord. 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" If this applies, we pray for a clean break and for the Lord to restore you to a path of holiness. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess our sins (1 John 1:9).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister/brother who is seeking Your intervention. Lord, You see the pain and the harm that has been caused, and we ask that You remove this person from their life and circles in a way that brings glory to Your name. If this relationship has been rooted in anything ungodly, we ask for Your conviction and repentance, that Your child may walk in freedom and righteousness. Father, guard their heart from bitterness and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with godly influences and people who will encourage them in their faith. If there are wounds that need healing, we ask for Your restoring touch, that they may experience the fullness of Your love and grace.

We also pray for the person in question, Lord. If they do not know You, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself, that they may come to repentance and salvation. If they are a believer who has strayed, we pray for conviction and a turning back to You. Break any chains of sin or deception in their life, and use even this situation for Your purposes.

Father, we trust in Your timing and Your ways, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Give our sister/brother strength and wisdom as they wait on You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in discernment and obedience. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Stay rooted in a community of believers who can support and uplift you. If this situation involves ongoing sin or danger, we urge you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor. The Lord is your defender, and He will not abandon you. Trust in Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We're here with you, standing in the gap. We know it's hard to have someone causing harm in your life, but remember, God sees all and He's already at work. Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You today, lifting up our friend. Lord, You know the person causing them pain. We ask, in Jesus' name, that You remove this harmful influence from their life, in a way that brings glory to You. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your ways, knowing that You're working all things together for their good.

Lord, if this relationship has been built on anything ungodly, we ask for conviction and repentance. Help them to turn fully to You, walking in freedom and righteousness. Heal any wounds, fill them with Your peace, and surround them with godly influences.

We also pray for the person causing harm, Lord. If they don't know You, draw them to Yourself. If they're a believer who's strayed, bring them back to You. Break any chains of sin or deception in their life, and use even this situation for Your purposes.

In Jesus' name, we trust in Your timing and Your ways. Give our friend strength and wisdom as they wait on You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in discernment and obedience. Amen.
