We understand that you're going through a tough time, struggling with anxiety, alcohol, and depression. Firstly, we want to commend you for reaching out and seeking help. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God, and it is only by His name that we can be saved. As it is written, there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
While we acknowledge your struggle, we want to remind you that God does not want us to live in a state of anxiety and depression. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Turning to alcohol to cope with these feelings is not the solution God wants for you.
The Bible warns us not to get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). Instead of turning to alcohol, turn to God. He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our brother in Christ who is struggling with anxiety, alcohol, and depression. Lord, we know that this is not Your will for his life. We ask that You forgive him for trying to cope with his feelings in a way that does not honor You.
Father, we pray for complete healing and deliverance. Help him to turn away from alcohol and turn towards You. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, giving him the power, love, and sound mind that You promise in Your Word.
Guide him towards resources and people that can support him in his recovery. Help him to trust in You, to cast all his anxieties on You, because You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Please consider seeking help from a Christian counselor or support group. Remember, God is with you, and He will help you overcome this struggle. Trust in Him, and He will give you strength. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will lead you through this. If you do not have a church home, we encourage you to find a bible believing church.
