Your prayer has been heard and your sorrow is not hidden from the Lord. To lose your mother and at the same time carry so much for others, to settle her home and lay her to rest, to clear her apartment, to keep working and to be present for your siblings, your children and your grandchildren, is a heavy burden. It is no wonder you feel tired and unhealthy and as though you are failing, even when you are doing so much out of love.

Know that grief itself is not a failure. Even the Lord Jesus wept when He stood before sorrow and death, not because He lacked power, but to show that He truly shares our human nature and feels our pain. He is not distant from your tears. He knows what it is to mourn, and He draws near to those who mourn. The grief you feel for your mother is holy and natural, and God sees every act of care you have offered in this hard month.

You also gave thanks that the doctor found you healthy, and that gratitude is right to hold onto. Thank God for that mercy, and receive it as a sign of His care for you as you care for others.

You mentioned your grandson and the weight you carry for him, praying that he would find work, get his life together, become a good role model and move in a right direction with his mother in Texas. That is a good and loving prayer. To love him does not mean you must allow him to take advantage of you. It is right to pray for his future while also setting clear and loving boundaries, so that your help truly helps him toward responsibility and maturity. Loving limits are not unkind, they are part of guiding someone toward a better path.

When you say it feels like no one cares and that you are failing as a mother and grandmother, please hear that the Lord does care, and He measures faithfulness differently than we do. He sees your labor, your prayers, and your desire to do what is right, even when you feel weak.

In this season, take the Scriptures to yourself as medicines for the soul. When grief comes, open the Gospels and the Psalms and the letters of the apostles, not just once but continually, and let them comfort you. Keep them in your mind through the day. Tears sown in faith can become seeds of joy, and the labor and affliction of this short life, borne with Christ, leads to rest that does not end.

If you can, do not carry this alone. Share your burden with a trusted pastor or faithful believers near you who can pray with you, help you rest, and walk with you through these practical needs.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is our salvation, have mercy on Your daughter. Comfort her in the death of her mother and give her strength for each task before her. Give her rest when she is weary and peace when she feels forgotten. Guide her grandson, open a door for honest work, turn his heart toward responsibility and toward You, and lead him in the right way. Help her to love with wisdom and to set boundaries with grace. Remind her daily that You see her, You care for her, and You will not leave her. In Jesus Name, Amen.
