"This they do because they don't know the Father".I think idolatry is when a person or group of people take the object {or addiction, like a drug}and think it's the one thing that can help them.Of course, when they believe it's the only thing that can help them, they're ruling out God, because they're relying on it instead of God to help them. One thing in the present I think has become an idol{based on the large number of people praising it to the high Heavens, and thinking it's a cure-all for everything}is pot. In the past ,a certain type of person smoked it, but others didn't. Now, more and more I hear states legalizing it, editorials praising it like it's the greatest.{I mean even recreational pot.}They try to rationalize their support of it{"it's safer than cigarettes, alcohol is legal," etc.}But why compare sins, as an excuse for commiting your sin?Yes, alcohol and cigarettes are sins, but I didn't know there was a "comparison sheet" between sins, to be used as a rationalization to commit yours.{Or, an excuse} For one , it's a drug, but secondly, like I say,if pot is what you rely on instead of God, isn't that a lack of faith in God,and putting something ahead of God, which is idolatry?Either you look to God for help...or you rely on pot. Which is it?
