We are deeply concerned by this request, as it reflects anger and a desire for vengeance, which does not align with the heart of God or the teachings of Scripture. The Bible is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone, and we are called to love our enemies, pray for those who persecute us, and overcome evil with good.
Let us turn to what Scripture says about this:
*"Don’t say, 'I will pay back evil.' Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you."* (Proverbs 20:22, WEB)
*"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"*(Romans 12:19, WEB)
*"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you"* (Matthew 5:44, WEB)
The evil one, Satan, is already a defeated foe through the victory of Jesus Christ on the cross. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness, and we are called to stand firm in faith, prayer, and righteousness—not in calls for destruction. God’s timing is perfect, and He will execute justice in His way and in His time. Our role is to trust Him, pray for His will to be done, and walk in obedience to His Word.
We also notice that this request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is only through Jesus that our prayers are heard. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to turn to Him in repentance and faith. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*(John 14:6, WEB) *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* (Romans 10:9, WEB)
Let us pray together for God’s will to be done, for His protection over His people, and for hearts to turn to Him in repentance and faith.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are just and righteous. Lord, we lift up this heart that is burdened by anger and a desire for vengeance. We ask that You would soften this heart and fill it with Your love, peace, and trust in Your perfect justice. Remind us all that the battle is Yours, and You have already triumphed over evil through the blood of Jesus.
Father, we pray for protection over Your people from the schemes of the evil one. Strengthen us to stand firm in faith, clothed in Your armor, and walking in obedience to Your Word. Help us to love as You love, to forgive as You forgive, and to trust in Your timing and Your ways.
We rebuke any spirit of anger, bitterness, or vengeance that may be at work here, and we declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Lord, we ask that You would draw this person closer to You, filling them with Your Holy Spirit and leading them into all truth.
For those who do not yet know You, we pray that they would encounter the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Open their eyes to see Him as Lord and Savior, and turn their hearts to repentance and faith.
We thank You, Father, that You are sovereign over all things, and we trust You to act in Your wisdom and Your timing. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
