Dear Friends and family,
As you all know a week ago Haiti was literally destroyed by an earthquake. Our hearts are close to Haiti related to the fact we have a medical clinic we have once a year in Haiti. My parents partner with Dr. Kerry Reeves, eye doctor, from Newton. Kerry moved his family to Haiti back this past summer. He is two hours away from the devastation in Port au Prince. However, a dear missionary friend who is American and lived with us during my dad’s ski accident has come back to America and she has lost everything. Julie, the missionary, is a widow, and a full time missionary in Haiti. She was working in a orphanage in Port au Prince. The orphanage and her home were destroyed completely. She is 67 years old and was sleeping in the streets and food was scarce. Julie had been caring for a little boy in the orphanage, JJ, who is two years old. She has cared for him for the past year. He calls her momma. Julie had to leave him in the streets screaming and crying for her as she boarded the plane to return to America. She could not bring him to America customs would not allow such a thing. She has not been able to sleep since leaving him alone on the streets of Haiti. Julie is so heartbroken without him. She wants to adopt him, but she has no home, no money, so we desire to build an apartment beside our home for Julie. We had originally planned on building a garage in the future and thought this would be an idea situation for Julie. She could have her privacy she desires, but be close by us so we can care for her as well. The problem is we must move quickly because time is of the essence with little JJ and living arrangements for our precious Julie. We also have the financial issues involved with building and expenses with helping get Julie on her feet and JJ here in America. We simply do not usually like to ask for anything, but we are asking our friends and love ones to be the hands and feet of Jesus today and reach out to help JJ get to America and Julie get reestablished here in America. We are seeking any kind of help at all. If you can build, have building supplies, etc. God has given us this desire and we feel like God wants us to help. Julie cannot bring JJ here to America without a place to live or transportation along with her age and no medical insurance. Julie has lost everything. She has the heart of Jesus. She has always been such a cheerful giver. JJ remains in Port au Prince which is the heart of Haiti and the worse area at this time. JJ remains in Haiti in the care of the orphanage but there is no building and he is on the street sleeping with scarce food and water. The Haitians are caring for him at this time. Please pray and think about how you can give today. We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this world and it starts by caring for the orphans and the widows as Jesus commanded us to do.
