First, I want to thank everyone for your great faithfulness in prayer. We did not win. I feel that the judge had already decided what he was going to do before we ever entered into the courtroom. He really was not interested in any of the evidence we had. The biggest piece in our favor, I thought, was that Mike is not on the birth certificate, Aleksi's last name is ours, not his, and no paternity has ever been established. I really thought that since we already had one child in our custody, there would be no question that the right thing to do would be to give us the second so they could be together. Also, there mother lives in the same town and state as I do so she would be able to see her whenever she wanted to. The judge said it was important that a child of her age, 21 months, not be without their mother and it is important that the siblings be together. He then turned around and gave the temporary guardianship to the adoptive grandmother,( Mike was adopted at 8 months old.) I know it sounds like I am claiming she is not a parent because of the adoption, but Aleksi has my DNA running through her body not Mary's. I am upset with the system and feel like we have been raked over the coals. I am praying for the ability to forgive and not be bitter but right now it is a little hard. I also feel that Desiree' needs to get rid of Mike. He sabotaged the whole trip of going after Aleksi the week before by telling his mother before we got there. Please pray that God will open a door for us to get her some way. Thank you.
