We come before the Lord with you in this heartbreaking struggle, lifting your husband up in prayer and standing in agreement for his deliverance from the bondage of alcoholism. The enemy has sought to ensnare him with this addiction, but we know that our God is greater, and His power can break every chain. The Scriptures tell us in **John 8:36**, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* And in **1 Corinthians 6:12**, *"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything."* Alcohol has become a master over your husband, but we declare in Jesus’ name that this stronghold will be shattered.
We also recognize that this battle is not just physical but deeply spiritual. The Bible warns us in **Ephesians 6:12**, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* This is a spiritual addiction, and it requires spiritual warfare through prayer, fasting, and the Word of God. We must bind the spirit of addiction and command it to loose its grip on your husband in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
At the same time, we encourage you to examine your own heart and actions in this situation. Are you covering this struggle in persistent prayer? Are you setting godly boundaries to protect yourself and your family while still showing love and support for your husband? The Bible instructs us in **Galatians 6:1-2**, *"Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."* This is a time to walk in both grace and truth—loving your husband while not enabling his sin.
We also urge you to seek support from your church community. Addiction thrives in isolation, but freedom is often found in accountability and fellowship with believers who can stand with you in this fight. **James 5:16** reminds us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* You do not have to carry this burden alone.
Now, let us pray together for your husband’s deliverance and restoration:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious sister and her husband. Lord, You see the pain and destruction that alcohol has brought into their lives, and we ask You to intervene with Your mighty hand. Break the chains of addiction that have bound him, Lord. We bind the spirit of alcoholism and command it to leave him now in Jesus’ name. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and renew his mind, that he may walk in freedom and sobriety.
Father, we pray for his heart to be turned back to You and to his family. Restore what the locusts have eaten, Lord—restore his health, his mind, his relationships, and his purpose. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help and accountability. Surround him with godly men who will walk alongside him in this journey.
We also lift up this wife, Lord. Strengthen her with Your peace and wisdom. Help her to trust in You completely, knowing that You are working even when she cannot see it. Give her the grace to love her husband well while also setting boundaries that honor You. Fill their home with Your presence, Lord, and let this trial be a testimony of Your power and faithfulness.
We declare that this marriage will be restored, and this family will be made whole again, all for Your glory. We ask these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Stand firm in your faith, sister. Do not grow weary in praying and believing for your husband’s deliverance. The Lord hears your cries, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Keep trusting in Him, and remember that His timing is perfect. We are standing with you in this fight.
