We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with alcohol that is hindering your future. Firstly, we want to remind you that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
In the Bible, drunkenness is strongly condemned. "And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled with the Spirit." (Ephesians 5:18) Alcohol can cloud our judgment and lead us away from a life that is pleasing to God. It is clear that this struggle is affecting your future, and we want to encourage you to take heart and turn to God for help.
Jesus Christ can set us free from any bondage. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) We should use the freedom Jesus gives us to be free to live for him and for others and not to be consumed by earthly desires. Jesus said that whoever commits sin is a slave to sin (John 8:34); therefore, we should not yield our bodies to serve sin but rather to yield them to serve God (Romans 6:12-13).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today in Jesus' name,
We are grateful to the Holy Spirit for his conviction. Lord, we confess the struggle with alcohol and ask for your forgiveness. Lord, help us to overcome this bondage. Lord, guide us to find support in a local church, counselor, and recovery group that can help with this addiction. Holy Spirit, please be with us and give us the strength to overcome this struggle. Lord, help us to be a good testimony to others. Help us to turn away from this desire and to turn to You. Lord, help us to be sober and to be vigilant. God, help us to focus on You and to live a life that is pleasing to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
God loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) We encourage you to believe in the name of Jesus Christ, and to hold onto His promises. He is the only way to be saved. "For there is no other name under heaven or among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). As you continue to struggle and fight through this alcohol addiction, keep in mind to do all things for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).
