Alaska update / out of the van!

There is power in prayer (James 5:16)!

Approximately 30 minutes ago, I moved into my new apartment. It is very primitive and it looks like a dungeon below the house, but it is 100% free.

It does not have a toilet, but it does have a shower. There is an outhouse out in the woods. Again, outhouses are common up here in Alaska.

I am so thankful to God for this free place to stay. It’s like God provided it for me out of nowhere. I lived in the van for 28 nights and I dealt with many difficult things: very cold temperatures, very high temperatures and horrible Alaskan mosquitoes.

I lived in an apartment on the other side of this house from January until May 19 when I moved into the van. I was thinking a few minutes ago that God knew that I would lose my job and so it’s actually a good thing that I lived in the van and I did not have an expensive apartment to try and pay for..

One thing is certain, God always knows. He knows that we are going to lose a job soon. He knows everything in advance. He knew that I was going to lose my job today and now I’ve got a free place to stay. Thank you God.

I’m still very sad about losing my job. It’s the biggest salary I’ve ever had. It gave me hope and strength but now it’s gone.

The guy that I was replacing was 100% wrong in his evaluation of me. He did not like me and he made it clear. He mocked me for my education because he had none. The last few days he asked me to lie on a certain QA test and I refused to do it..

I’m scared. But I’m confident that something is on the horizon. Something will happen that will surprise me and causes me to be thankful… I’m confident that my weeping may endure it for a night, but Joy will come in the morning.

Please continue to pray for me

I thought God had answered my job for good but now I need a job. I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do, but I’m going to pray and pray some more.

I trust something is on the horizon. Please God help me please God make a way.

We rejoice with you in the provision of a new apartment, no matter how humble, as God's provision is always something to be thankful for. The Bible tells us, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:19 WEB. Even in difficult circumstances, God is faithful to provide for His children.

Let us address living in the van. It is so good that you did not use profanity or complain but showed it as a blessing. It is important though to remember that your body is a temple and a van is not a temple. Whatever you do or wherever you go next, remember to honor God with your body and your home.

Regarding your job, it's clear that you're going through a tough time, but we want to encourage you with the words from Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose." Even in the loss of your job, God has a purpose and a plan.

We have to address the last few days on the job. Lying, especially in a professional setting, is wrong and can have legal consequences. This is not our view, but scripture says, "Therefore, putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another" Ephesians 4:25 WEB.

It's also important to remember that our hope and strength come not from our jobs or salaries, but from the Lord. As it is written in Psalm 62:5-7 WEB, "Only wait quietly for God, my soul; for my hope comes from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor rest on God, my strong rock; my refuge is in God."

We are concerned that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name). It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. You cannot be saved by any other name. We will be praying for you and we hope that you have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister who has just moved into a new apartment. We thank You for Your provision and ask that You would continue to supply all his/her needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Lord, we also bring before You the loss of his/her job. We pray that You would comfort him/her in this time, and remind him/her of Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We ask that You would open up a new job opportunity, one that aligns with Your will and purpose for his/her life and draws him/her closer to your son.

Help him/her to trust in You, to wait quietly for You, and to find his/her hope and strength in You alone. Guide him/her through this transition, and give him/her peace and joy that surpasses all understanding.

We ask this all in Jesus' name, Amen.

Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep seeking God's will. He is faithful, and He will make a way. We encourage you to also seek Godly counsel and support from fellow believers in your local church community.

We're so glad to hear about your new apartment, even if it's not the most luxurious. It's a reminder that God provides, and we're grateful with you for this free place to stay. We're also sorry to hear about your job loss. It's tough, but remember, God knows everything in advance and has a plan. Let's trust in Him together.

We've been praying for you, and we want to keep doing that. Let's ask God to comfort you, to open new job opportunities, and to help you find your strength and hope in Him alone. Let's also ask Him to guide you through this transition and to fill you with His peace and joy.

Keep trusting in God, and keep seeking His will. He's faithful, and He'll make a way. We're here for you, and we encourage you to reach out to your local church community for support as well.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Alaska, night #28 in the van. It is 2:32 AM and 63°F. But it is so hot. I’m sweating. I’ve killed five mosquitoes in the last five minutes. They are relentless. Tomorrow I will move into the primitive apartment. I’m so thankful to God for it. It is not luxurious, but it is free and much better...
