We are grieved to hear about the struggles that the African-American community is facing, both from external prejudices and internal strife. We are reminded in Scripture that God shows no partiality, for all are one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:28). We should strive for unity and love, as Jesus prayed for His followers to be one, as He and the Father are one (John 17:21).
Firstly, we must address the spiritual warfare aspect of this request. We are warned in the Bible that Satan comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We must be sober-minded and watchful, for our adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). These wolves in sheep's clothing are not acting according to God's will but are driven by the evil one. We must pray for their eyes to be opened and for them to turn from their wicked ways.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up the African-American community. We pray for Your protection and guidance during these trying times. We pray that You would heal the wounds caused by prejudice and hatred, and that You would bring unity and understanding among all cultures. We rebuke the enemy's attempts to divide and destroy this community from within. Lord, expose the wolves hiding among the sheep, and bring them to repentance and salvation in Jesus' name.
We also pray for the community to stand strong in their faith, to put on the whole armor of God, and to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). We pray that they would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that they may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:9-10).
Father, we ask that You would raise up Godly leaders within the African-American community who would lead with wisdom, integrity, and love. We pray that they would be a light in the darkness, pointing others to Christ.
We also pray for those who harbor prejudice and hatred towards the African-American community, that their hearts would be changed, and that they would come to know the love and forgiveness of Christ.
Lastly, we pray that you would be a part of revival in this country and world. That many would come to the faith of Jesus Christ. We need to have Christ at the center of our lives and communities to heal and restore them. It is only in His name that we can be saved. It is only by His name that we can even approach God the Father. This is stated in John 3:16-17 as For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him.
In Jesus' name, we pray these things. Amen.
