PrayingWe hear your cry for help and stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting this situation before the throne of grace. The pain and turmoil caused by abuse—whether verbal, emotional, or physical—is deeply grievous, and we grieve with you. The Bible makes it clear that abuse is not God’s design for any relationship. In Ephesians 4:29-32, we are called to speak only what builds others up, to put away bitterness, wrath, anger, and malice, and to be kind and tenderhearted. Abuse violates these principles and wounds the heart of God, who created every person in His image with dignity and worth.
We rebuke the spirit of rebellion, aggression, and disrespect in this situation. Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23), and it opens doors to destruction in a person’s life and in the lives of those around them. We declare that the Holy Spirit is greater than any spirit of rebellion, and we pray that He would break its power over her life in the mighty name of Jesus. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that He would soften her heart, bring conviction where there is hardness, and lead her to repentance.
Father, we also ask that You would remove any unhealthy obsessions or idols in her life—whether they be animals, holidays, or anything else that has taken a place that belongs only to You. The first commandment is clear: “You shall have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:3). When our affections are misplaced, they lead us away from Your will and into bondage. We pray that You would realign her heart to seek You above all else, for You alone are worthy of our devotion.
We take authority over this situation in the name of Jesus Christ, the name that is above every name (Philippians 2:9-10). No weapon formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we declare that the power of God’s love and truth will prevail in this circumstance. We pray for protection over you—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The Lord is your refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2), and we ask that He would surround you with His peace and shield you from harm.
Father, we ask that You would bring healing to this relationship, if it is Your will. If restoration is possible, let it be done in a way that honors You and reflects Your love and grace. If not, we pray for wisdom and strength to walk in the path You have set before you, trusting that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We also pray for her salvation if she does not know You. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6), and we ask that the Holy Spirit would draw her to repentance and faith in Him.
We pray that You would fill your heart with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give you the courage to set boundaries that honor You and protect your well-being. Help you to forgive as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13), not because the abuse is justified, but because forgiveness releases us from the chains of bitterness. At the same time, we pray for justice and for Your righteousness to prevail in this situation.
Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly counsel and support around you—people who will speak truth in love, pray with you, and help you navigate this difficult season. You are not alone, for the Lord your God goes with you (Deuteronomy 31:6).
We commit this situation into Your hands, trusting that You are working even when we cannot see it. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. In the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
