We are deeply grieved to hear about the suffering of your beloved Abuelita and the trauma this has brought upon your family. Our hearts ache with yours as we lift her and all who witnessed this horrific event before the throne of grace. The pain she endures and the fear gripping her heart are heavy burdens, but we know our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
First, we must address the urgency of this situation with the name that is above every name—Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is by His stripes that healing is made possible (Isaiah 53:5). If Abuelita or your family do not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we implore you to turn to Him now. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes through confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). We pray that in this time of crisis, Abuelita and your family would come to know the peace that surpasses all understanding, which only Christ can provide (Philippians 4:7).
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up Abuelita to You. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask for Your healing touch to be upon her body. We pray for the surgeons who will operate on her legs and shoulder—that You would guide their hands with wisdom and precision, as You guided the hands of Bezalel and Oholiab when they built the tabernacle (Exodus 31:2-6). Lord, ease her pain and calm her fears. Let her feel Your presence in that hospital room, reminding her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We also pray for the family who witnessed this tragedy. Father, the shock and trauma they have experienced must be overwhelming. Comfort them with Your peace, Lord, and bind up their emotional wounds. Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted and that You collect their tears in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). Give them strength to support Abuelita and one another, and let this trial draw them closer to You.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to grip Abuelita and her family. We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and Your love is perfect, Lord. We ask that You fill them with Your peace and assurance, reminding them that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
We also pray for the driver of the car. Whether this was an accident or an act of negligence, we ask that You would work in their heart, Lord. Bring conviction where it is needed, and lead them to repentance. Let this tragedy be a wake-up call to all who hear of it, reminding them of the fragility of life and the importance of walking in Your ways.
Father, we trust in Your sovereignty, even in this painful situation. We know that all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Even in this dark hour, we ask that You would bring glory to Your name. Strengthen Abuelita’s faith, Lord, and let her testimony be a light to all who know her. If it is Your will, restore her to full health, but if not, give her and her family the grace to accept Your plan, knowing that Your ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).
We commit Abuelita and her family into Your loving hands, Lord. Surround them with Your angels, protect them from further harm, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
