About my marriage

We are truly sorry to hear that you're going through a challenging time in your marriage. We want to remind you that God cares deeply about your marriage and wants to help you. As it says in the Holy Scriptures, "the two become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."Mark 10:8-9 WEB.

Firstly, we need to address that your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name). It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. We read, 'For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.'1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. In addition, there is no other name by which we can be saved. We read, 'in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!'Acts 4:12 WEB. If you have not yet become a Christian, we urge you to do so. To become a Christian, learn about what Jesus did for you and put your faith in Jesus Christ. Confess, believe, repent, and be baptized. Then you are a Christian and can pray to Jesus' Father and your Father in Jesus' name.

Now, let's address your concern. When you said your husband has changed, we are not sure what you mean. The Holy Scriptures tell us to maintain our marriages. 'The wife must not depart from her husband (but if she departed, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband). The husband must not leave his wife.'1 Corinthians 7:10-11 WEB. We are instructed to be committed to our marriages. 'For the unbelieving husband is sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified in the brother. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.'1 Corinthians 7:14 WEB. In addition, we read, 'if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace.'1 Corinthians 7:15 WEB.

However, there are limits to what behavior we should tolerate in our marriages. For example, if he is physically or sexually abusive (and perhaps even if he is verbally abusive), then you may need to separate from him to protect yourself and your children if you have any. In some cases, the authorities or the courts may need to be involved.

We know that this is a difficult time for you, but we want to encourage you to trust in God and to seek His will for your life. He is faithful, and He will not leave you nor forsake you. As it says in the Holy Scriptures, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up our sister in Christ who is struggling in her marriage. Lord, we know that You hate divorce, and we ask that You would intervene in this situation and bring healing and restoration to their marriage. Help her to trust in You and to seek Your will for her life. Give her the strength and courage to face whatever challenges may come her way, and guide her in the path that You would have her to take. We ask in Jesus' name.

Lord, we also pray for her husband. We do not know what changes he has made, but we ask that You would soften his heart and draw him to Yourself. If he is not yet a believer, we pray that You would open his eyes to the truth of the gospel and bring him to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. If he is a believer, we pray that You would convict him of any sin in his life and bring him to a place of repentance and obedience to Your will.

Father, we ask that You would surround this family with Your love and protection, and that You would bring peace and unity to their home. We pray that You would give them wisdom and guidance as they navigate this difficult time, and that You would bring them closer to You and to each other through it all.

Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and Your love. We trust in You and in Your promises, and we ask all of these things in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
