We join with you in coming before the Lord, humbly seeking His mercy and forgiveness, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). It is only through the precious name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, for *"there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). There is no other name by which we can be saved, and we are grateful that you have invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, for He alone is our advocate before the Father.
The fact that you are seeking forgiveness demonstrates a heart that is tender toward the Lord, and that is a beautiful thing. The Scriptures remind us that *"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise"* (Psalm 51:17, WEB). We encourage you to continue walking in repentance, turning away from sin and toward the righteousness of Christ. Remember that forgiveness is not just a one-time event but a daily necessity, as we are all prone to stumble. The apostle John also tells us, *"My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous"* (1 John 2:1, WEB).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before Your throne of grace, asking that You would wash them clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. Lord, forgive them for every sin—those committed knowingly and unknowingly, in word, deed, or even in thought. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them, as Your Word promises. Help them to walk in the freedom and victory that comes from Your forgiveness, no longer bound by shame or condemnation, for *"there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus"* (Romans 8:1, WEB).
Strengthen them to resist temptation and to live in a way that honors You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be empowered to walk in holiness and obedience. Remind them daily of Your great love and mercy, that they may live with gratitude and joy, sharing the good news of Your forgiveness with others. We ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We also encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, allowing it to renew your mind and guide your steps. The Psalmist declares, *"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path"* (Psalm 119:105, WEB). As you seek the Lord, He will faithfully lead you in paths of righteousness. If there are specific sins weighing on your heart, we urge you to confess them before the Lord and, if necessary, to a trusted believer who can pray with you and hold you accountable. *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16, WEB).
May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus as you walk in the freedom of His forgiveness.
