We understand that you are seeking forgiveness and the ability to overcome a past that may be haunting you. Firstly, we want to assure you that it is only in the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach God the Father and seek His forgiveness and help. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
In light of your request, we are reminded of what the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14 WEB, "Brothers, I don't regard myself as yet having laid hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up our fellow believer who is struggling to let go of the past. We ask for your forgiveness for any sins that may be haunting them and pray that you will help them to overcome their past. We are thankful for the promise in your Word as we remember in 1 John 1:9, WEB, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Father, give them the strength and grace to press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Help them to forget those things which are behind and to stretch forward to those things which are before.
We pray for a renewed mind, a healed heart, and a restored spirit. We will continue to pray for strength, guidance, and wisdom for them as they journey forward, no longer hindered by their past. We pray for their continued faith and trust in You.
In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to meditate on God's Word and seek His presence daily. Remember that in Christ, you are a new creation. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."
Trust in the Lord and His promises, and you will surely overcome your past.
