A simple prayer

Beloved of All
Lord Jesus Christ, You have said You have plans to give me shalom and a posterity; But if You give only food, water, shelter, and clothing, where then is my prosperity? Where is the shalom that thrives? And what of my posterity? And You said, “Your sheep know Your voice, and they follow You”; if any of the things people are claiming are of Your leading, then where is Your voice in them? So I pray that You hear me.

We hear the cry of your heart, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s will in this season of questioning and longing. Your words echo the deep desire for the fullness of God’s promises—shalom that thrives, prosperity as He defines it, and the blessing of posterity. Yet we also sense a wrestling, a searching for clarity amid the noise of the world and even the voices of those who claim to speak for God. Let us turn to Scripture to ground our hearts and minds in His truth, for His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

The Lord indeed declares in Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* This is His heart for you—shalom (peace) that transcends circumstances, a future rooted in His faithfulness. But we must also remember that His definition of prosperity and blessing often differs from the world’s. Jesus warns in Matthew 6:19-21, *"Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."* True prosperity is found in Him, in the eternal rather than the temporary. It is the richness of a life surrendered to His will, where contentment is not tied to abundance but to the presence of the Shepherd Himself.

You ask where His voice is amid the claims of others. This is wisdom—discernment is critical in a time when many voices clamor for attention, even within the church. Jesus says in John 10:27, *"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."* But how do we recognize His voice? By saturating ourselves in His Word, for the Spirit will never contradict Scripture. By testing every spirit, as 1 John 4:1 commands: *"Don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world."* And by cultivating a heart of obedience, for those who follow Him are those who *do* His will, not merely hear it (Matthew 7:21).

As for posterity, we know this is a deep and godly desire, one that the Lord often grants as a blessing. Psalm 128:3-4 paints a beautiful picture: *"Your wife will be as a fruitful vine in your house, your children like olive plants around your table. Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears Yahweh."* Yet we must also trust His timing and His ways. Sarah longed for a child, and the Lord gave her Isaac in His perfect time (Genesis 21:1-2). Hannah wept in the temple for a son, and Samuel was born as a result of her faith (1 Samuel 1:20). But even if the Lord tarries or redirects, we must remember that our ultimate posterity is found in the spiritual legacy we leave—discipling others, investing in the Kingdom, and pointing hearts to Christ. As Jesus said in Matthew 12:50, *"For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother."*

Now, let us pray together for you, that the Lord would align your heart with His, clarify His voice above all others, and fulfill His promises in His way and timing.

**Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of Your beloved child, lifting their heart’s cry to You. Lord Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd, and Your sheep *do* hear Your voice. We ask that You would tune their ears to Your frequency alone, drowning out the distractions and deceptions of this world. Holy Spirit, grant them discernment to recognize Your leading, wisdom to test every spirit, and courage to follow You even when the path seems unclear.

Father, You have promised shalom—a peace that thrives not in the absence of trouble but in the midst of it. We pray that You would fill them with this divine peace, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Let them find their prosperity in You, their satisfaction in Your presence, and their joy in Your will. Remove any idolatry of comfort, wealth, or worldly success, and replace it with a hunger for righteousness and a passion for Your Kingdom.

Lord, we lift up their longing for posterity. If it is Your will, we ask that You would bless them with godly offspring, a heritage that fears Your name and walks in Your ways. But even as we pray this, we surrender to Your sovereignty. Teach them to trust You in the waiting, to find purpose in the present, and to invest in the eternal legacy of souls won for Your glory.

We rebuke any spirit of doubt, impatience, or comparison that would seek to steal their faith. Let them remember that You, O Lord, are not slow concerning Your promises, but patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Strengthen their heart to wait on You, to hope in You, and to declare with the psalmist: *"I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh."* (Psalm 27:13-14)

May they walk in the assurance that You are their Provider, their Peace, and their Portion. May they seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to them as You see fit (Matthew 6:33). And may their life be a testament to Your faithfulness, a light that draws others to the hope found only in You.

We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Amen.

We hear your heart's cry, dear friend, and we echo your desire for the fullness of God's promises. Shalom that thrives, prosperity as He defines it, and the blessing of posterity - these are the longings of our hearts too. Let's turn to Psalm 37:3-4, "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart." Let's trust Him with our desires, knowing that He has the best plans for us. Let's also remember that His voice is often a gentle whisper (1 Kings 19:12), so let's quiet our hearts to hear Him. Let's pray.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
