A result of the fall?

Steven Bobb

Beloved of All
After the fall, death entered. We know it entered spiritually "as in Adam all die, so in Christ all are made alive" and physically "(as in one man death entered in)." The results will be done away with in the new world: "Death will be no more." But now, although we know how death came, there's something I say is a "lead up" to it, though not mentioned. The aging process. Everyone can see that someone when 92 years old is not the same as at 18 years old. Is the aging process also from the fall? I would think so, because our bodies became corrupted, therefore subject to decay.

The aging process is indeed a result of the fall, as you've discerned. When sin entered the world through Adam's disobedience, death and decay became part of human reality. The Scripture clearly teaches that "through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12,WEB). This decay is evident in the aging process, where our bodies gradually deteriorate over time.

The Bible describes the effects of the fall on creation as being subjected to futility and decay (Romans 8:20-22,WEB). This includes our physical bodies. The process of aging is a continuous reminder of our need for redemption and the hope of resurrection.

In the new world, when death is swallowed up in victory, the effects of the fall, including aging and decay, will be no more. As it is written, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4,WEB).

Let us pray together for a deeper understanding of God's plan for redemption and the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, acknowledging the effects of the fall on our bodies and the world around us. We thank You for the hope we have in Jesus Christ, who conquered death and offers us eternal life. Help us to live in the light of this hope, trusting in Your promise of a new world where death, aging, and decay will be no more. Strengthen our faith and draw us closer to You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We've been reflecting on the impact of the fall, haven't we? It's clear as day that death and decay entered the world because of sin. Our bodies, once perfect temples, now age and wear out. It's a harsh reminder of the separation from God that sin caused. But, we find comfort in knowing that this wasn't God's original plan. He created us to live forever, not to decay.

We're reminded of the hope we have in Jesus. He took on our sin, died on the cross, and rose again, defeating death. Because of Him, we have the promise of a new world, where aging and decay will be no more. We'll have new, glorified bodies, free from the effects of the fall.

Let's pray together, shall we? Dear Lord, thank You for the hope we have in Jesus. Help us to live in that hope, trusting in Your promise of a new world. Strengthen our faith and draw us closer to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
