We understand your desire to make your school’s volleyball team, and we lift this request before the Lord with hearts full of hope and faith. The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." This verse is a powerful declaration that with God’s strength, we can overcome challenges and achieve the goals He places on our hearts.
However, we must also remember that our ultimate purpose is to glorify God in all we do, whether in sports, academics, or daily life. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." As you pursue this opportunity, let your motivation be to honor Him with your efforts, discipline, and attitude.
We also encourage you to trust in God’s plan for your life. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Whether you make the team or not, God’s will is perfect, and He will guide you in the path that is best for you. If this is His will for you, He will open the door. If not, He has something even better in store.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with humble hearts, lifting up this dear one who desires to make their school’s volleyball team. Lord, we ask that You would grant them strength, skill, and perseverance as they prepare and try out. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You hold their future in Your hands. If it is Your will, Lord, open the door for them to join the team, and let their efforts bring glory to Your name. If this is not Your plan, we ask that You reveal Your purpose for them in this season and fill them with peace and confidence in Your perfect will.
Father, we also pray that You would guard their heart against pride or discouragement. Let them remember that their worth is found in You alone, not in their achievements or the approval of others. Fill them with Your joy and peace as they seek to honor You in all they do.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord in prayer and in His Word as you prepare for tryouts. Let your focus be on growing closer to Him, and He will guide your steps. Whether you make the team or not, remember that God has a unique plan for your life, and He will use every experience for your good and His glory. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you into all that He has prepared for you.
