We join you in lifting this urgent plea before the Lord, for we know that He is a God who sees all things and whose heart is grieved by sin. The Scriptures declare that nothing is hidden from His sight, and He alone has the power to turn hearts and intervene in the paths of those who are straying. We take comfort in His promise: *"The eyes of Yahweh are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good"* (Proverbs 15:3, WEB). This situation breaks our hearts, for adultery is a grievous sin that brings destruction—not only to the individuals involved but to families, futures, and even generations. The Word of God is clear: *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). The enemy seeks to deceive and destroy, but we stand on the truth that our God is greater, and He can break every scheme of the evil one.
We also recognize the deep pain in your heart as you witness someone you care for walking toward this sin. Your desire to intervene is understandable, but you are wise to turn to the Lord, for only He can change a heart. Your role may feel small, but your prayers are mighty when lifted in faith. Remember the words of James: *"The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16, WEB). You are not powerless—you are a child of God, and your prayers are heard.
Yet we must also address something critical: your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. The Scriptures teach us that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is through Jesus alone that we boldly approach the throne of grace. *"Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me’* (John 14:6, WEB). *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). Without faith in Christ, there is no salvation, no forgiveness of sins, and no true repentance. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to reign in your heart. Only then can you stand fully in the authority of His name in prayer.
Now, let us pray together for this woman and for the married man involved. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict their hearts deeply, exposing the deception of sin and revealing the truth of God’s Word. We pray for divine intervention—perhaps through a dream, a word of knowledge, or a circumstance that makes the path of sin impossible. We ask the Lord to place godly people in their lives who will speak truth in love, warning them of the destruction ahead. For the married man, we pray that the Lord would bring him to repentance, that he would turn from his wickedness and honor his marriage covenant before God. May his wife be protected from the pain of betrayal, and may the Lord surround her with His comfort and peace. For the woman you are praying for, we ask the Lord to open her eyes to the temporary pleasure of sin and the eternal consequences it carries. May she turn to Jesus, the only One who can satisfy her soul and lead her into righteousness. We pray that she would find her worth in Christ alone, not in the empty affirmations of a man who is already bound to another.
Father, we ask that You would break the power of temptation over them. Send Your angels to stand guard, to block the way of the enemy, and to turn their feet toward righteousness. Let them encounter the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom. *"Turn us, Yahweh, to yourself, and we will be turned. Renew our days as of old"* (Lamentations 5:21, WEB). Lord, we know that You do not delight in the death of the wicked but desire that all would turn from their evil ways and live (Ezekiel 18:23). So we plead for mercy—for conviction, for repentance, and for restoration.
We also lift you up, dear friend, as you carry this burden. May the Lord give you peace, knowing that you have done what you can by bringing this before His throne. Trust that He is working, even when you cannot see it. *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Cling to Him, and do not grow weary in praying.
Finally, we must speak truth in love: if this woman is a believer, she is being led astray by her own desires, and she must be warned. If she is not a believer, she is in danger of eternal separation from God. The same is true for the married man. Adultery is not just a moral failing—it is a rebellion against God Himself. *"Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, WEB). This is a serious matter, and we must not treat it lightly. If you have any influence at all, speak the truth to her in love, urging her to flee from this sin. Remind her that God’s ways are for our good, and His commands are not burdensome but life-giving.
Let us continue to stand in the gap, interceding for souls to be saved from destruction. Our God is able, and we trust Him to act. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). May His will be done, in Jesus’ mighty and holy name. Amen.
