A Peaceful End

So my pet cat seems to have cancer and is dying. The vet says there really isn't anything we can do. The cat just lays there breathing hard and he won't eat or drink. I have tried comforting him and he purrs but nothing else. I know some might think it trivial to pray for a pet but I believe the life-spark/soul in all creatures is part of God and I hate to see the poor animal suffer. I pray that God eases my cat's pain so it doesn't suffer and that he may pass on peacefully.

Holy God and loving Father, I consciously place my fears, worries, anxieties, and burdens in your hands. I know that I have so little power to change the outcome of these events and I trust that you will work what is pleasing to you, and best for me, out of these situations. Forgive me for my anxious thoughts and for letting my own worry become an idol that robs you of my full trust. Strengthen and empower me to trust you more by the power and presence of your Spirit.
