WISOWS — ORPHANS — ELDERS
We don't get to choose whom, in a given season of their life, is needy. Those who have, at the time, are simply called to share with those who have not—UNGRUDGINGLY. There are is great retribution associated with mistreating society's underprivileged. But much worse, is the city who brings many curses upon herself by seeking to exploit God's servant to rob and cheat God spiritually (but, for sporting events?!!!).
Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed Me, even this whole nation. (Malachi Ch.3 v9, KJV)
Certainly, robbing God is treacherous, by itself; but, as I've said before, similar to Jerusalem, a city can cause an entire nation to fall by miscounselling her to engage foolish practices. The internet is fertile ground for such mass miscounsel. Nevertheless, it is important to understand that the servant does not curse the city; instead, the city brings curses upon herself by opposing God’s servant.
"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse." (Genesis Ch.12 v3a, NIV)
And,
¹Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, ²to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless. ³What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches? (Isaiah Ch.10 v1-3, NLT)
The day of reckoning can come at anytime: It is not the same as "The Judgement Day."
God called back the flood (Harvey), He caused the plague to cease (Covid-19); howbeit, He has vowed that this time, He will not relent. Wisdom would never counsel a city to persist in manipulation, certainly not of food.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians Ch.6 v7, KJV)
Yet, you testify to having seen me eating. God knows the details. God's justice is measure for measure. He does not need to take away the food supply for a famine to occur; He can simply make it inedible.
"Cursed is the cheat who has an acceptable male in his flock and vows to give it, but then sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord. For I am a great king," says the LORD Almighty, "and my name is to be feared among the nations." (Malachi Ch.1 v14, MSG)
It's not about a ball-game; it's about buildings—the very ones from which you continually cast me whenever you lose a game.
A foolish city provokes God.
