We come before the Lord with hearts of gratitude that you have sought repentance, for it is written in **Acts 3:19**, *"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord."* True repentance is a turning away from sin and a turning toward God, and we rejoice that you have taken this step of humility before Him.
The Scripture reminds us in **1 John 1:9**, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* This is a promise we can cling to—God is faithful to forgive when we come to Him with a sincere heart. Yet repentance is not merely sorrow for sin but a complete change of mind and direction, as **2 Corinthians 7:10** tells us, *"For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death."*
We must ask: Have you turned away from the sins you are repenting of, or are you still holding onto them? Repentance requires action—a deliberate choice to walk in obedience to Christ. If there are specific sins you are struggling with, we urge you to bring them before the Lord in prayer, seeking His strength to overcome them. **James 4:7-8** says, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."*
We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and we must emphasize that there is no true repentance or access to the Father apart from Him. **John 14:6** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And in **Acts 4:12**, we read, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Repentance is meaningless without faith in Him, for it is His blood that cleanses us from all sin.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul before You, thanking You that they have come with a heart seeking repentance. Lord, we ask that You would grant them a deep and genuine sorrow for their sins, a sorrow that leads to life and not death. Search their heart, O God, and reveal any area where they have not fully surrendered to You. Give them the strength to turn away from every sin and to walk in obedience to Your Word.
If they have not yet received Jesus Christ as their Savior, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. May they understand that salvation comes only through faith in Your Son, who died for their sins and rose again. Let them confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, that they may be saved (**Romans 10:9**).
Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in newness of life. Break every chain of sin in their life and set them free to serve You with a pure heart. Surround them with godly influences and Your Word, that they may grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily through prayer and the reading of His Word. Find a Bible-believing church where you can be discipled and held accountable in your walk with Christ. If there are specific sins you are struggling with, we urge you to confess them to a mature believer who can pray with you and guide you in overcoming them. Remember, repentance is not a one-time event but a lifestyle of turning from sin and pursuing holiness. May the Lord bless you as you walk with Him!
