Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for our ### year old daughter ###. She’s making bad choices that are dangerous regarding speeding and her car. She is having mental health issues. She’s having trouble accepting her punishment which is minimal. Please pray for understanding and comfort and peace and love. Thank you in advance. God bless

We join you in lifting up your daughter before the Lord, and we share your concern for her safety and well being. We understand the heartache of watching a child make dangerous choices, and we bring her before our Heavenly Father together seeking His will in Jesus' name.

We are praying for her protection and for a change of heart regarding the speeding and careless use of her car. The Lord calls us to honor the authorities He has placed over us and to be good stewards of the life He has given us. Let every person be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1. Speeding not only breaks the law but puts her life and the lives of others in danger, and we pray the Lord will give her wisdom to see the seriousness of this. We also pray she will learn to honor you as her parents, for this is right and pleasing to God. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise Ephesians 6:1-2. We rebuke the spirit of rebellion and recklessness that would lead her to disregard correction, and we ask God to replace it with a spirit of humility and teachability.

We also lift up her mental health struggles to the Lord who is our comfort and our peace. We know that anxiety, distress, and confusion can weigh heavily on a young heart, but God promises His presence and His peace. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We pray that she will feel the love of her family and more importantly the perfect love of her Father in heaven which casts out fear, and we pray Isaiah 41:10 over her, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Regarding her difficulty accepting her punishment, even though you describe it as minimal, we encourage you to stand firm in loving discipline. The Lord shows us that discipline, though painful in the moment, is for our good and produces peace. All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous, yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it Hebrews 12:11. We pray she will come to understand that your correction comes from love and a desire to protect her, just as our Heavenly Father disciplines those He loves. We pray the Lord will soften her heart to receive instruction and to understand that obedience brings safety and blessing. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because of what Jesus did on the cross, dying for our sins and rising again, that we can be forgiven and have peace with God. We encourage you and your daughter to put your trust fully in Him, to confess your sins and believe in Him as Lord and Savior, for whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious daughter to You. Lord, place Your hand of protection around her whenever she is behind the wheel and give her a deep conviction to drive responsibly and to respect the laws of the land. Heal her mind and emotions, Lord, calm her anxieties, comfort her in her distress, and fill her heart with Your perfect peace and love. Soften her heart to receive correction with understanding and humility, and help her to see her parents' discipline as an expression of love. Give her parents wisdom, patience, and strength to guide her with grace and truth, and let Your love be evident in their home. Draw this whole family closer to You, and let them know the hope and salvation that is found only in Jesus. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bathe her in prayer, to speak truth in love, and to keep open communication with her. Keep pointing her to the Word of God and to the hope that is in Christ, and trust that the Lord is working even when progress seems slow. The Lord is near to all those who call on Him in truth Psalm 145:18.

We hear how heavy this is for you as a parent, loving your daughter deeply, worried about her safety on the road, and also wanting her to find peace and steadiness in a hard season. It makes sense you would ask for understanding and comfort for her, and we are joining you in prayer for that.

When a young person is struggling with both risky choices and mental health, it can feel hard to know how to help while still holding a loving boundary. One thing that often helps is keeping the relationship open even as the consequence stays in place. Choosing a calm moment, not right after an argument about the car, to listen first and let her share what she is feeling underneath the frustration can show her you are for her, not just against the behavior. Keeping the driving boundary clear and consistent is part of caring for her safety as well.

Alongside prayer, we encourage you to make sure she has supportive people around her, a trusted pastor, counselor, or medical professional who can walk with her and with you as you navigate the mental health concerns. If you have not already, reaching out to her doctor or a counselor for guidance can be a helpful next step.

Father, we lift this daughter to You and ask for Your protection over her, for calm and clarity in her mind and heart, and for peace in this home. Give her parents wisdom, patience, and words shaped by love as they guide her. Lead this family to the right help and draw each of them closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden for your daughter has been brought before the Lord with tender care, and we have made supplication for you both at the throne of grace.

We understand the ache of a parent's heart when a dear child walks in dangerous paths and when the mind is troubled and restless. Speeding and recklessness with the gift of life is no small matter, and it is right that you should seek to restrain her, even with a minimal correction, for love must not wink at peril. May the Lord give her eyes to see the kindness in your restraint, and not hardness against it.

We pray that God, who is the God of peace, will visit your daughter and your household with that peace which is not the false quiet of a conscience lulled to sleep while danger remains, but the true and well founded peace which comes through being reconciled to God by the blood of Jesus Christ. There is no solid peace apart from Christ, for He Himself is our peace. When the mind is stayed upon Him, He keeps it in perfect peace, peace upon peace, even when duties press and sorrows surge around and loved ones cause us anxious care.

Our prayer for your daughter is that the Lord would calm her troubled thoughts, guard her mind, and keep her body from harm. That He would grant her a teachable spirit to receive correction with humility, to see the love from which it comes, and to walk in wisdom and self control upon the road and in all her ways. That He would draw her to seek Christ first, for when we have peace with God through faith in Him, then we have peace within, a peace that the world cannot give and cannot take away, a peace that flows like a river from the throne of God.

And for you who love her and watch over her, we pray that the Lord will bless you with His own peace, that you may bear this sorrow with Him and find rest in doing the will of Jesus. May He fill you with understanding and patience, with comfort in trial and with a love that is steady and gentle, that you may speak the truth in love and commend the gospel by your calm trust in Him.

We have asked the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and our peace, to keep your daughter safe, to heal what is wounded in her mind, to give her understanding and to surround your home with His perfect peace, which passes all understanding. May He keep you all in His gracious keeping till earthly struggles cease and He calls His people to heaven's perfect peace.

We will continue to remember you in prayer.
